I booked this hotel because I'm a sucker for older buildings with Art Deco architecture. When I walked into the lobby, i was pleased...it appeared to have delivered in that department. The gold elevators, the floors, the fixtures were all exactly what I was looking for. Sadly, once we got up to our room, the charm of the hotel ended with a thud. The room was dark. We fumbled for the light switch, and a single low-watt lightbulb flickered on by the bed. The rest of the stay, I tried to get some kind of illumination (other than the flashlight on my phone) but was thwarted at every attempt. The floor lamp's bulb was burnt out. Other switches did nothing. The curtains were impossible to budge or even reach. It felt like we were in a cave...a cave with dated carpeting and beat up furniture. It's sad, because this building could be such an amazing hotel if they put a little love and design into the rooms. We ate at the restaurant downstairs for dinner and it was pretty good. Over all, however, I say thumbs down. Kimpton, I thought you guys would do better than this!
Jay Arce at the Winston-Salem Marriott butcher and bull bar is amazing! He is so welcoming and remembers everyone’s name and favorite drink from the first time he meets them. You will not be disappointed if Jay is helping you out! Actually, the entire crew at that restaurant and the bar is amazing and super personable. Always excellent service.
Beautiful hotel with an historical feel. The lobby and my room was very clean. The only complaints I have were the scratches all on the tables and caulking in shower were coming apart. Just makes me wonder what does maintenance do? Being that my husband is a director of maintenance at an historic hotel. He pointed these things out and said this could cause for a great place to end up not being so great. Also the shower door just seems to be stuck or just needing some maintenance. Other than that, the housekeeping staff was very nice and did a great job on my stayover service
As a Diamond Elite member, I was disappointed in the lack of early check in for rewards members. When we approached the desk at approximately 1pm, The clerk was very abrupt and said ”Not Open yet” as she pointed to the check in policy sign. We left and returned at 4pm Outside of this very poor first impression, we had a decent stay. The highlight was the breakfast bar. This was a very welcome change and far better than the majority of the HIE I've stayed in. The breakfast staff was very friendly and motivated. Everything was much better quality than other locations. The Egg White Omelets, and thick bacon was a nice touch. Overall, clean, well-organized and always kept topped off with fresh food. The room was clean and comfortable. Actually, quite nice. One huge downside was the incredibly slow WIFI on 3rd floor. Speaking with other guests, they experienced the same thing. It was totally inadequate for anything less than email and basic word processing. Data, graphics slow to load and signal would often drop. This required you to log back in each time to the WIFI. Fortunately, this was a travel and not a workday. Great hotel while awaiting a flight or traveling, but I would call ahead to ensure there are no WIFI issues before booking for business.
We enjoy staying in older refurbished historic homes and this one did not disappoint. We stayed in the Columbian room. It was at the top of the stairs and as you would expect in an historic home the original wood floors creak, but add to the charm. The bed was very comfortable providing a good nights sleep. The room was also very quiet. The wine was a pleasant surprise. It's located less than two blocks from some of the best eateries in Winston-Salem. The complimentary breakfast at the Foundry was worth the short drive for sure.
JJo Ann RFrom the front desk joyous welcome from Winston to the excellent and clean accommodations, this Hampton Inn is an GREAT example of what makes Hampton Inns my favorite. Terrific job, Winston, and thanks for a great stay. Keep smiling.
PPacifica8283The stay was perfect - no issues, awesome parking garage across the street that was easy to get in and out and a nice restaurant right next door. But what I wanted to mention was how friendly everyone was who worked at the hotel. From the ladies behind the front desk over multiple days, to the happy woman behind the bar to the super helpful housekeeper on the third floor, every, single person I interacted with was friendly and kind. That is NOT common. I travel a lot, and this hotel felt like the epitome of ”southern nice.” The housekeeper offered to clean my room as I was leaving, even though she didn't need to that day. It was nice to come back to a ”refreshed” room. What a jewel - and located in easy walking distance of shops and sights.
ゲゲストMy experience was taxing to say the least. I arrived, after working an eight-hour day and traveling five hours, to a room that had old urine stains at the base of the toilet (both sides). The staff immediately provided a replacement, but it had the same issue. The third room was much better but clearly had not been used or dusted in a long time. The staff member did state that they do not typically have much business. I would expect that there is ample time to clean the rooms, even spot-checking the ones not in use. If I had had the energy, I would have taken the loss and gone to a different hotel. Luckily, I was checking out after two nights. I will not be returning, frequenting any Baymont properties, or recommending to anyone.
Disgusting. Plaster falling from ceiling. Bugs. Sprinkler in ceiling removed and stuffed with Kleenex. Bugs. Most lights don’t work. Splintered bathroom door. Nasty carpeting. Mold in bathroom overloaded outlet. Open outlet no cover. Gnats/fruit files. Mattress uncomfortable. I don’t have high standards for a one night stay but this is worst. Clerk at front desk has as much energy and personality as a piece of limp lettuce. Couldn’t get TV to work. Couldn’t get computer connected to internet. Guy next door at had TV on all night. Asked him to turn down but could still hear it. Steps to second floor need repaired. Don’t waste your money. Definitely don’t bring children here.
THis place was terrible. There were derelicts outside of the building. THe lobby floors were dirty. The first room I was in, the overhead bathroom light didnt work, someone had been smoking in the room and the mattress cover made a crackle every time I moved. So the nice young man from Jamaica moved me to the one room with no mattress cover in the hotel and I got BITTEN UP WITH Bedbugs. The second room-- in addition to the bedbugs had threadbare towels. One towel had a yellow stain on the corner. And the bathroom sink had hair on it behind the faucet. It looked like someone had shaved and the cleaner didn't get the shaving hair. There was a long hair across the toilet seat. I will NEVER stay there again. I was supposed to stay for five nights. I left after one.
