Love this hotel, a very special place.

Needs better housekeeping at least. Feels like the whole accommodation is ran cheaply and quickly. Don’t know when last my room was properly vacuumed, or dusted, few stray hairs in my sink on arrival as well feels like all it gets is a standard quick run around. When the edges of the carpet is a different colour (thick grey matter) to the main carpet it’s not a good sign or healthy. Wonder what the kitchens are like.

Excellent stay...lovely place. They let me have an evening meal although restaurant and bar was really closed because of a large party. Staff were so pleasant and didn't forget about me all alone in the tea room! The meal was superb, absolutely delicious. Rooms beautiful too. Centre of lovely little town. I hope I have recourse to return there again one day.

Came here for the bookers trade show. The rooms are well equipped and comfy, the food was good, but the most impressive part was later in the night with 40-50 hospitality staff drinking the barmaid (I didn’t get her name) ended up working alone for most of the night. Her service was fantastic and even when there was a queue at the bar she did not panic and made sure everyone was looked after and happy. I hope the manager/owner reads this and makes sure that this young barmaid is appreciated, I know myself and my colleagues tipped her for her efforts and fantastic service and really appreciated her work. As a manager myself I’d be really proud of this bartender and how she handled the situation she was in if she was in my team! Many thanks for a great night.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a wedding. Our room (201) was spacious and had a very comfortable bed. We enjoyed the gym, the breakfast and the, very tasty, Sunday lunch. A special mention to Holly for being super helpful. Highly recommended.

Very disappointing afternoon; tea. We had really looked forward to this and feel let down. Cheap nasty bread for the sandwiches. The scones were ok but so little fruit in them , barely 2 or 3 sultanas. Cakes very sickly, especially after scones and cream. No white sugar on the table and had to go and find a waiter to ask as no one was in the dining room to assist guests.. Then no sugar lumps and was handed some sachets. All these little touches make it special. Overall I couldn’t recommend. Not cheap and poor value for money .

Some businesses get it right and some just blame others when it doesn’t go according to plan. The Villiers has got it right. This is an historic building and so they are limited by their infrastructure but thus makes it a quirky place with nooks and crannies, and winding staircases. But the two things that really stood out for me are (1) the staff who are friendly courteous and knowledgeable, and (2) the food which is tasty, well cooked and just the right amount to make you feel satisfied without feeling bloated. We used this as a base to visit Bletchley Park which was amazing. If I had to find any concerns it was that the room we were in overlooked the road which was quite busy but that in no way detracted from the overall good experience. By the way they don’t mention it on their web site but they do have car parking. The acid test is would we come back here? The answer is we’ve already booked - a couple of nights in December so that we can visit Blenheim Palace. Well done to all at The Villiers and a special mention to Ellie who made us feel so welcome.

Spent 2 nights with good friends at the hotel and we were all very happy with the experience. Good rooms, good food, and above all, excellent staff. Thanks to all for an enjoyable stay. (Drivers, and especially those with high blood pressure, be careful of the Castle Street/West Street junction, its a doozy!)

Had a lovely 2 night stay recently. The bedroom and bathroom were both a good size and nicely appointed although the bathroom was maybe due an upgrade, but was by no means shabby. The shower was over the bath and my understanding is there are very limited rooms with walk-in showers. We had an issue with the room on the first night but Holly on reception was amazing and everything was resolved within minutes. Thanks Holly - you are a star! Breakfasts were very good and we also had dinner one evening in the Dukes Restaurant which was excellent.
