PROS: We had a great check in experience. Both of our rooms were Super clean and the AC was strong. Rooms were quiet and we slept well. Price was right. There’s a quick restaurant in the Holid Cons: It’s a bit awkward that there isn’t a door leading into the bathroom and the shower is just hanging out with zero privacy. We went down to breakfast which wasn’t included in our room fee. The polite employee at check in said we could pay after we ate. We arrived separately and were all treated like criminals by the male hotel employee in the N95 mask. The entire time we were eating, Early in the morning, he was Talk Shouting with another employee. As we were leaving he lost his cool when my children took a couple croissants out with him. HORRIBLE customer service and a ruined experience based on one employee. Stay at the Holiday Inn Express.
Having stayed here on a couple of occasions over the last twenty years, the hotel has possibly lost a bit of its appeal. It’s still good value depending on the season and the surrounding scenery is lovely but there’s not much to do if you leave the hotel grounds. We had a room in the main building which was very large but very basic. Whether you eat either in the main restaurant or the bistro, the menus and prices are pretty similar. The choice is a tad limited and the costs are rather puzzling. Some dishes are good value and quite filling whereas others are very small and expensive. Furthermore a bread roll costs €1.50 whereas a very nice glass of wine starts at just €2.40! The buffet breakfast however is a disappointment. Barely anything hot and a very limited selection of cold meats, cheeses, croissants etc.
