「A very convenient place to stay as a stop for a Scottish road trip. Very easy to find and plenty of parking available. Room was spacious and clean as well.  The breakfast was provided by the main motorway service venue, not the hotel. No prior booking required. I found it cheaper purchasing on site rather than on the website.  I was charged £5 for the overnight parking.」

「The Portpatrick Hotel is a stunning building, inside and out. Obviously, this is shown by the slightly dated decor, but I would imagine it is a listed building, and their hands will be tied regarding what modifications they could make to it. For me, it adds to the charm of the place. The rooms are clean and have exactly what you need for a comfortable stay. If I had one complaint, it would be the shower; it was poor and rarely had hot water. Again, I understand this could be due to the volume of people in an old building. This did not affect my stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the bar and games room were great, and breakfast was great value served in a stunning dining room. Will definitely be returning one day, thanks for a great stay! 「This hotel is desperately in need of a refurbishment. It is incredibly tired and below par even for a low-budget hotel. As a disabled person, I was disgusted by how out of touch they were with code in this day and age, including a serious violation. We had very hard beds, which I couldn't sleep on, so I ended up with no sleep. The showers were over a bath (not very practical for a disabled person, especially with no bath seat), and the water pressure was basically a dribble, so it took forever to wash long hair. All in all, it's a shame the hotel itself is so disappointing, as it is in an ideal location for stopping off when traveling through, and it's situated beside a beautiful lake. The staff were very polite.」

「Excellent stay at The Garret — easily a 10/10. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and had every amenity I could have needed for a really enjoyable stay. The bar and restaurant were also well stocked, with a great selection, making it easy to relax without needing to head elsewhere. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Kirkcudbright, so it’s a great base for exploring the town and surrounding area. I actually stayed here while cycling the SWC300, and one of the big deciding factors for me was the secure bike locker in the garden. It was brilliant to have somewhere safe and secure to leave the bike overnight, which is a huge bonus for anyone travelling by bike. Overall, a fantastic stay with everything I needed. I’d happily stay here again and would definitely recommend it, particularly to anyone cycling through the area.」
