This is a beautiful resort that feels off the beaten path & tranquil from the moment we arrived after a long week on Safari in Tanzania. We had villa #1 which had a spacious living room, bathroom, and separate bedroom. It also had a private pool in the back yard. We choose the 1/2 inclusive package which was perfect for us. It included Breakfast every morning up to 12 noon which was great as we like to eat late while on vacation. It also included dinner every night. The food was very good and the dinner menu changed daily. So much delicious options and reasonably priced wine options made it easy. They have a very long pier at the ocean and it became a habit to get dressed up for dinner & walk out on the pier beforehand for a sunset cocktail. We loved the place so much we only left one day to do a tour of a spice farm and Stones Town. The spice farm experience was amazing & we learned so much about not just the type of spices the island is famous for, but how to use them in a variety of ways that as Americans, we simply didn’t know. Stones Town was very touristy but a not miss is the Slave Market. This is the historical site that documents the history of slavery on Zanzibar which was quite robust in the late 1800’s. As with any stay there are things that weren’t perfect as we had an issue with our pool, but the staff was quick to respond and apologized which made us feel that they truly cared about our stay. I would go back & I highly recommend this resort. Food = A Room = A Restaurant staff = A + Room cleaning staff A + Manager “ Anna” = A + Don’t hesitate to book a stay here!

Wir verbrachten 6 Tage im Amani Villa Nature Retreat und sind sehr zufrieden und glücklich! Wer wirklich absolute Ruhe und eine gute Portion Luxus sucht ist hier genau richtig! Die Anlage besteht aus nur(!) 4 sehr großen Häusern ,das bedeutet mehr als 8 Gäste sind gar nicht möglich! Im Moment werden gerade 4 weitere Häuser gebaut ,was die absolute Ruhe aber überhaupt nicht gestört hat ! Während unseres Aufenthaltes waren wir die ganze Zeit die einzigen Gäste...!!! Das gesamte Personal war also nur für uns da ...was ein Luxus ...!! Das Essen ,egal ob Frühstück,Abendessen oder zwischendurch war hervorragend ! Vielen Dank an Adam ,unseren Koch ! Es wird hier sehr auf Nachhaltigkeit und Ruhe geachtet ! Wie zum Beispiel Wasser in Glasflachen ,so viel man möchte und immer kalt und erfrischend So gibt es auch keinen Fernseher... 2 kleine Abzüge in der ” B Note ” : Das W- LAN ist etwas schwach und es gibt keinen Kühlschrank in den Unterkünften. Zusammenfassend sind wir sehr begeistert und vollkommen zufrieden! GAAAANZ wichtig ...wer Ruhe und vollkommene Entspannung sucht ist hier absolut richtig . TL;DR - you need to go here, it's incredible. Super kind people, incredible views, villas, and vibes. This hotel was the best we have ever been to, and for many reasons. Combination of the view, atmosphere, food, kindness, activities all added to an incredible experience for our honeymoon. We loved our time here, and are already planning on going back in the future. Not just that, but every single person here was incredibly kind -- maybe it's culture of the country, or the culture of this hotel, but every person made us feel actually *appreciated* and felt like we were genuinely welcome and happy to have us there. We have been to many hotels, all with nice staff with professional courtesy, but never truly welcome as if by a friend to their home. Amazing time!

My stay at Samawa Living was absolutely phenomenal! From the moment I arrived, I felt an incredible sense of warmth and care from the staff. As a solo traveller, I was made to feel so safe and seen, which made the experience even more special. It truly felt like a home away from home. I’d like to give a special thanks to Kadogo, Hashimu, Baby, Asha, and the rest of the amazing team who went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. Their genuine kindness and attentive service stood out in every interaction. The location of the hotel was perfect – close to the iconic Paje Beach, with convenient access via buggy, so I could enjoy the beauty of the area while still retreating to the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the hotel. The boho vibes of Samawa Living were stunning, with every detail thoughtfully designed to create a cosy and serene environment. From the delicious meals to the immaculate rooms and tranquil ambience, everything about Samawa Living exceeded my expectations. I can’t wait to return! If you’re looking for a safe, stylish, and welcoming place to stay in the Paje area, I highly recommend it.

Check-in? Smooth as butter. Room? Cleaner than most 5-star hotels I’ve seen so far. Outside terrace? It’s literally Bali combined with Zanzibar. Staff? Friendliest people I’ve probably ever met. Food? The chef should be praised 24/7. This is just a summary of everything that should interest you. We arrived at Coral Rock at around 9am, knowing that check-in is usually at 2pm. We were greeted at the reception by a lady that informed us that the former guests will be leaving and as soon as the room is properly cleaned, we can go in. We left our luggage at the reception and proceeded to relax in the restaurant area while we waited. We had coffees, fruit platters and fresh juices and were entertained by Jerry, a staff member of Coral Rock. We had a very pleasant conversation, he had a wonderful smile and just made time pass easier. After what seemed to only be 5 minutes (but was actually 3 hours), we were informed by Ali (another staff member with whom we completely fell in love) that the room is ready. We proceeded to go to the reception to get the luggage - gasp - which was gone. Instead, the bags were waiting for us in a cool AC’d room, with a big bed full of flowers and fresh water bottles. To die for! This is just our first story with Coral Rock. The following days were amazing as well. Each day we dropped our key off at the reception so housekeeping can occur, which was done very seamlessly. The staff members (especially Ali and Jerry) always made sure to ask us if we need anything and if everything is to our liking. Now, the food… The food! We ate the greatest octopus and calamari ever! We also had a Swahili style seafood coconut curry, which was absolutely (again) to die for. Now, I’ve seen some bad reviews of the tuna tartaki (basically tuna steak), with people saying that it would always be way too dry and cooked extremely well done, which of course is not ideal with this dish; I decided to venture and try it out to see for myself. Needless to say, the reviews were either outdated or simply written by people that have nothing to do whatsoever with food, because it was cooked to perfection. Perfectly medium-rare in the center and crusted with toasted sesame seeds? It was absolutely mesmerizing how perfect that dish was made. I absolutely adored every single part of this experience. Other great dishes include the ramen (all variations of it, as we ate the beef, seafood and chicken ramen), the grilled veggies & calamari salad, the pineapple tart, the curries, and the list could go on and on and on. I was pleased to see the chef and his (cutest toddler ever) daughter, and I would congratulate him all day everyday if I could. We even got to enjoy a stunning floating breakfast all accustomed for by Ali! I can’t describe this place enough. I had high expectations, but Coral Rock exceeded them and then some! We visited here for part of our honeymoon, and stayed in the water villas. Everything was perfect here! The food was great! I was amazed that every dinner was a multi course meal. The beach is huge and incredibly private! There are no other resorts on either side. This was the perfect place to unwind and connect.

This is a little piece of paradise. The hotel is right on a beautiful beach and has a lovely infinity pool looking out to the ocean. The food is the best we had on the island. The owners and staff are lovely people they can’t enough for their guests, it really has a home from home vibe. The grounds are beautiful and the views when having your meals are breathtaking. Such a tranquil spot and the rooms are spacious comfortable and clean and the WiFi was great. I can’t fault anything about this hotel. Such a beautiful setting

I stayed at this hotel for 5 days. The hotel is just as it looks in the pictures, nice and the outside areas are well maintained. The rooms, are very small and quite damp due to the integrated shower. The pillows are damp, even ours were mouldy (we had them changed). The mosquito nets have holes in them (they were replaced with new ones) and the toilet has no ventilation. The safe box did not work and we were never able to use it. There are no amenities, they offer the same body soap and shampoo, no body lotion. The food in the restaurant is VERY mediocre and the staff speaks very little English, so it is very difficult to place an order with any intolerance or personal request (they almost never took it into account and brought the dish as it was on the menu, we ended up talking to the chef to clarify our intolerances), but in the end, for guests with any kind of intolerance/allergy, I would NOT recommend this hotel. The service in the restaurant is very slow, it took us about an hour and a half to dine, ordering only one drink and one dish per person. The glasses in the restaurant are made of plastic and very old. We do not recommend ordering breakfast to take away (breakfast box), we requested it the day of check out for 5:30am and it was not prepared, so we had to leave the hotel WITHOUT breakfast and without ANY solution, only an apology, even having paid for it as we had half board. To sum up, very poorly managed hotel with maintenance and hygiene/cleaning work to be done in order to meet the expectations of a 3 star hotel. We will recommend our travel agency to stop working with this hotel.

A beautiful oasis in a chaotic part of Zanzibar however sadly our experience wasn’t as expected. Reception staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, Egon really made a positive impact. However after that, we were all incredibly disappointed. Simple parts of hospitality seemed to missed throughout, we had issues with food and drink service taking over an hour to arrive each time and something always arriving cold. From ordering 3 portions of chips, to food for a table of 6, every thing took over an hour. At one stage, one coconut water took an hour to arrive. It’s appreciated a bigger table in a small hotel may take longer but it was the case with whatever was ordered. Similarly, if a delay is know it is common courtesy is to warn guests of such a delay. The hotel setting is beautiful, but again small efforts could be made to make experiences better. For example, the toilet in one of the rooms our party had flooded, it was sorted quickly however no new bath mat was given - the soaking wet one was left. I appreciate it’s a tropical climate but maggots were in the mango served one morning, when given back to the wait staff they apologised and nothing else was done. We’d expect the fruit to be kept in the fridge given the environment. Every day there would be another issue, although some trivia, on a holiday you don’t want to have to experience this. Management did speak to us about the slowness of service, mentioning it isn’t the same in Zanzibar as it is in Europe. A comment which felt like it was to provide an excuse and to belittle our cultural understanding. We are aware things run slower, but if you offer a hotel to tourists you’ve got to cater for them slightly! Between our party we had 3 rooms. We’d made it clear from the start we wanted specifics items on different rooms. This wasn’t done so instead we spent 40 mins on our last day sorting it. Again, not a task guests should have to do. We also couldn’t help but notice, water bottles were rightly filled up at the bar for free for 2 days of our trip. Given the 31 degrees and a 4 star hotel you’d expect this. The water ran out at one stage in the middle of the day and we were told there was no more, providing unnecessary stress to paying customer. After complaining that a hotel must have water available for guests in such heat, eventually more was delivered. That said, whilst management were watching by the bar suddenly we were to be charged. After the complaints about service already and a clear discomfort from guests, this felt was incredibly poor customer service. Unfortunately there is a lot more improvements for this hotel and until these are rectified and with so many other options around, I wouldn’t recommend until things have been improved. A real shame as it could have been lovely. I hope this feedback allows the hotel to improve in areas so future guests don’t experience such a poor service.

The hotel is built around mangroves and the monkeys could be seen all over the hotel which always made our day. It has an authentic feel and it was nice to see locals in the water harvesting seaweed and Maasai on the beach. There was a Maasai show one evening which was great fun to watch. The room had everything we needed and the bathroom / dressing area was huge. We were located near the lobby and there were no problems with noise. The hotel is beautiful and we were honestly awed as we walked around the hotel. We spent a lot of time on the jetty on the days we stayed in resort and had no problems finding sunbeds even when arriving at around 10. The jetty bar is great and a lovely place to spend an evening. It was windy at times but didn’t impact things too much. Admittedly we found the main restaurant did lack variety compared to other all inclusive hotels we stayed at but we always found something to eat. There is another restaurant on site that was payable and we visited twice for dinner while we were there. Fantastic service and food both times. The lobster (around $25) was huge. Staff are great and can’t do enough to help. We had several excursions during our stay which we all enjoyed and spent some time in Paje which is a short taxi ride from the hotel at a cost of around $20. I wouldn’t hesitate to return to Zanzibar and this hotel!

My family and I were in Zanzibar over the December holidays with accommodation booked at ngalawa hotel and resort. I must say the place was breath taking from the entrance. Palm trees all around. It was family friendly which allowed for easy entertainment of kids, with I don't know how many swimming pools( yes they are that many😉😄😄🙄). It is away from the chaos of the city but very close to a lot of activities and tourist sites. There is an in house travel guide who helps with tour booking and yes covid test booking. The staff was amazing always available. Restaurant also on site. I can write a book about this place. Go see it yourself 😉

My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon here and it was absolutely perfect. Tulia’s staff’s attention to detail is unparalleled. I truly felt like every want and need was taken care of and they thought of everything. For example, when we went on a one day safari excursion, they were sweet enough to pack us lunch for the day! I truly felt like I was staying with family. Also the entertainment they had during dinner every night was out of this world; they had acrobats, traditional Masai dances, and beautiful Zanzi bands. They also wrote us the most thoughtful, kindest letters both at arrival and departure and it made the trip so special. I’ll never forget my time at this paradise and look forward to returning soon. I’d like to give a special thanks to Lukas! All of the staff members were amazing but Lukas was particularly great - really enjoyed the Tanzania history lesson he gave us during a beautiful beachside lunch we were having.

到着時部屋を案内したボーイが、ルームキーの調子が悪いからフロントで調整してすぐ戻ってくると、鍵を持って出て行ったが、30分経っても戻ってこない。プールを後回しにしてカートの距離を歩いてフロントに行くと「ああ、210ね」とカードキーをフロントマンから渡された。 え？私たちが取りに来ないとダメなの？と思いつつ「まあ、いいか」と部屋に戻りカードキーをかざすとドアが開かない。 またカートの距離を歩き、フロントでカードが使えないことを伝えると「IT担当行かせる、しばらくして部屋に戻ったら直ってるよ」とのこと。しばらくして部屋に戻るとカードキーで開くことは出来たが今度はドアがロックされない。 またカートの距離を歩いてフロントで伝えると、今度はIT担当が同行し、ドアがロックされない事象を確認。ドアの部品を変えるからと彼は作業開始。 この時点で到着から2時間半経過。ドアロックができないため、部屋でくつろぐことも、プールに行くこともできずに我慢も限界。終了しないドア作業の傍ら（3時間経過）フロントに電話で「部屋を変えて欲しい」と交渉するが「追って電話する」と切られる。 折り返しかかってきた電話中に停電で電話が切れたため、またカートの距離をフロントまで歩く。フロントにつくと初めてマネージャーのMeganが対応。（前回フロントで交渉した時に隣に彼女もいたが、見ているだけで対応してくれていない） 長い交渉の末、隣の部屋に交換は可能だが、20分掛かるという。部屋をアップロードできないのか？と頼むと部屋の掃除ができてないから21時まで部屋に入れないと怒りを込めて言われ隣の部屋に変わることで合意。 が、隣の部屋はツインではなくダブルベッドで、クローゼットの扉も無いグレードダウンの部屋。 これは無いでしょう？五つ星ホテルで。 なぜハウスキーパーの部屋整備時にカードキーの不良がフロントにつたえられなかったのか？ なぜ、ボーイが部屋に案内した時カードキーが不良でフロントに戻ったなら部屋を変える対応ができなかったのか？ なぜ、何度もカートの距離をこちからか歩いてドアが閉まらない開かないを説明しないとエンジニアが動かないのか？ なぜ1割ほどしか宿泊客の滞在がないようなのに、こうしたトラブルの部屋を割り当てるのか？（レストランに夕食客は3組のみ） なぜ部屋チェンジで宿泊者の好みのダウングレード部屋に変えさせるのか？ 五つ星、世界のmarriottがこの対応とは本当にがっかりした。

新酒店，印度人投資的，環境很好，服務業比較熱情。包三餐的套餐，住了兩天，飯菜品質挺好，還不算重複。酒店前台可以安排出海到對面的半島海灘看日落，不過對面海灘需要付費，每人一萬先令，通常海灘有活動，表演等。酒店屬於休閑風格，安靜，整潔。 他們的總經理塞班先生很熱情，有個服務員Maxmillion，服務很到位，推薦品嚐他們的石頭城玫瑰葡萄酒。 另外，藉機會推薦一位當地的好司機，老家來自阿曼的默罕默德.阿里，人好，找的海灘去追海豚，看海星，浮潛等等，包船才30刀，前後三個小時，船長還贈送了水果，感覺服務很到位，自覺給了小費，很不錯的體驗。圖片裏有這個司機的名片，大家可以找他。

This resort is really a paradise. Once you step in from outside it's like you're enterning another world. The vegetation, the people, the architecture, everyting and everyone is welcoming you. The room is big, the bed looks like a fairytale one and the bathroom is spacious and perfectly organized. Everything is clean and tidy and it's cleaned spotless everyday. The food is amazing and it has something for everyone. No matter what one likes, it's there. The beach is a piece of heaven. Everything blends with nature, it's airy and big enough so that nobody bothers you. There.s a dreamy beachbar and fresh towels everyday. Twice a week there.s dinners organized on the beach and it's amazing. Fresh fish and meat and anything one could dream of plus live entertainment. The rest of the dinners (and every meal) are organized inside aswell as outside next to the pool and have live entertainment too everyday. Everyone is really welcoming and nice and ready to fulfill your every wish. I absolutely loved it. Highly recommend it. You won't regret it. And there's a lot of fun and interesting trips to book at the reception. I will be back for sure!

I highly recomend the hotel. We had a very nice room with a lovely view to the ocean. Very polite staff, food was delicious, everything was perfect. They take good care for the costumers, there is every day diferend kind of activities so it's never bored. I only missed a good espresso, but you can not find it in Zanzibar anyway.
