It could have been a fantastic two-night break, but on the second night, after dinner and before going out for drinks, we encountered a horrendous smell in our room that turned our stomachs. The staff came up to witness the smell and immediately offered us another room (fortunately, they had one available). We then had to pack up all our belongings, move to the other room, and unpack. By the time we finished, it was late, and we decided to call it a night instead of going for drinks as planned. This ruined what could have been a great evening. Upon checking out the next morning, we spoke with the General Manager, Marcellin Hardouin, who only offered a £50 discount on our final bill. Disappointing, especially for a Relais & Châteaux hotel.
