We found the Elounda Mare on the Relais & Châteaux website and were very happy with our 7 days at the hotel. The staff is amazing and everyone went out of their way to make our experience a memorable one. A huge thank you to the entire Elounda Mare staff and special thanks to Ioanna at guest relations, Fronthin at the front desk, George our reservation agent, and Marina, George, and the sommelier at the restaurants. The hotel has a rustic feel (lots of antiques) and we liked the stone pathways and overall architecture. It feels authentic and never crowded! Due to the location, there's some wind and the view of the bay and mountains is truly spectacular. I would strongly recommend this hotel if you are looking for total R&R and good food. The premium dine-around plan is designed for those with a hearty appetite as the cost is quite steep (90 euros per day/person). We switched to the bed-and-breakfast plan after 3 days, ordering a la carte, which best suited our needs and budget. While families seemed to prefer the small beach area, we liked using the pool in our bungalow, the main pool, and swimming in the Crete Sea directly from the rocks! We loved eating at the Yacht Club, The Old Mill, and Il Borro, the Italian restaurant located in the sister hotel. There's a motorized boat with an efficient and friendly crew to take you to the sister hotel (5-minute cruise) or you can take a golf cart. The Six Senses Spa located in the sister hotel is fantastic and very much worth the visit (Athina gives an awesome manicure/pedicure and Erika is the best massage therapist). Looking forward to coming back soon!
