I really enjoyed my stay. The place was awesome and the staff were even better. Lots of history that makes it more interesting. I will make sure to advise anyone looking for good quality accommodation to look no further than Haggards! Cant wait to stay again. Thank you :)

What a pleasure to enjoy the old fashioned welcome to a lovely site and garden in the forest, but still have wifi in the room, a desk with enough light to work comfortably, and a lovely hot shower. The meals (dinner must be arranged) were superb and when it turned cold the fireplace was lovely and cosy. The local cats made me very much at home, but won't bother you if you are not a "cat person". If you can, try and get a room with a balcony like the log cabins so you can enjoy bird watching in comfort on your own while sipping a drink from the honesty bar. All round a most pleasant experience.

A great stay. Great and private location. Very clean and neat. Wonderful service. Didn’t book breakfast but hopefully their food is good as well. We were out most of the day and used the place mostly for sleeping, but I am still impressed with how beautiful and clean it is.

A gem hidden in central KZN. Neat and clean guest house, situated in a lovely area with lots of trees away from the noice in town yet less than 3km from the CBD. Excellent staff, from the time of making a booking to your arrival at reception, room service with home type meals and well trained staff. Curtacy call on the day of arrival to confirm your booking is in place just tops up what you can expect at Haggards on Hilldrop.

Amazing and awesome place in the middle of this industrial town. Have stayed at numerous places in Newcastle over the years. Haggards takes top spot in our opinion. The chicken pie and salad for dinner together with the mousse cake was out of this world

Utterly delightful. Great historical value, beautifully laid out, super surrounding of this guest house. Staff are friendly, helpful and though we experienced "loadsheding" it did not deter from our experience. It's just outside town and having had travelled all day it was lovely to kick if the shoes, unpack and prepare ourselves for a T-bone steak, served with delicious South African veggies. Breakfast too was wonderful, home baked rusks, warmest greetings. Highly recommend this lovely guest house/rooms.

We can only commend Haggards on Hilldrop! We so enjoyed our stay, albeit only one night. We will definitely be back. A wonderful Stay!The room was lovely, clean very comfortable andf superbly decorated. The beautiful linen was a treat, so were the most unbelievable gardens. Truly food for the soul. Delicious breakfast, friendly and efficient staff.!!! Thank you!!!

The host was excellent and customer focused going beyond the call of duty. The facilities were clean, equipped with the all amenities you get in 5 star hotels. The shower glass roof was mind blowing watching the rain whilst enjoying a pleasant hot shower. The landscaping is immaculate and security top notch in a decent location closer to restaurants and shopping malls.

We arrived to the most beautiful green garden views at this beautiful neat lodge with the blue clear water pool instantly grabbing your attention. Our stay were very pleasant and the rooms were very comfortable, clean and beautiful decorated.
