STAFF Incredibly friendly and welcoming. I cannot speak highly enough. Questions were answered efficiently (including where to go for Espresso and where to go walking!). Faultless PARKING I parked nearby in 2hr parking at 4pm, which meant I had no charge. Maybe if you park earlier you would need to pay RECEPTION Outstanding, there is a lovely seating area on ground floor. At night you can put a film on (however my room had a TV also). ROOM What a stunning old building. I had the smallest (”Micro”) room with bathroom down the hall. For Europe the room is not small, for America it's modest. However the detail...lovers old style sink, windows and radiator. Such character! And a pencil-sharpener on the wall (!). Incredibly clean as are the showers and toilets. VALUE Outstanding, I booked months in advance and paid $69 for the Micro Room. Bargain for such a sqeaky clean atmospheric stay. FACILITIES Everything I needed, towels and well stocked showers. Free coffee in the morning. WARNING The American Market is not so familiar with modest sized rooms and shared showers (if thats the room you book). The website is clear and its reflected in the price however if you want a 'standard' hotel then book Holiday Inn....and miss out on this beautiful old building with real character!
A woman moaned in the room about from 1am 330am. The Miami g was so frequent and loud- we actually began to wonder if her safety was at risk. We called the front desk. I walked to the front desk. No one there. No number to call. No help. This hotel has thin walls- fine. But I must learn to have a system to manage its guests. This is not Las Vegas or other type of hotel. We paid $533 for one night and it was sleepless and miserable. In the morning- all we wanted to do was leave. We got a repose talent the next morning saying “ I apologize as I am just now seeing this message. Did you attempt to call the number listed at the front desk? We sometimes have to support remotely. I am hoping it was simply someone with their TV on too loud as I did not receive any other calls or reports overnight.” That is a defensive and silly response. No apologies- no free breakfast- just that it was not and issue to them as a host. Unacceptable Upon checkout- they simply said we can’t do anything about it- talk to my manager. Didn’t offer any apologies or consideration. Didn’t give manager number. A very poor execution of the issue. This hotel needs a system to address/manage hotel guests and acknowledge when things don’t go well.
Great location and comfortable stay. We enjoy the pool, hot tub, breakfast, and easy parking. There is a nice walking trail and being close to safeway & gas is helpful. We had a great view of the Goonies House from our room. Stay was mostly quiet and we had plenty of pillows. Lots of room with a King Bed and queen size hydabed couch.
Check in girl at front desk was great, very accomodating. Beds are very hard and no shampoo. Room had lots if room especially for all our bike gear. Very disappointed with the coffee, you had to go to front desk to get it first off. Second girl at front desk to lazy to make any. All three kraft empty at 7:30 am. She was not friendly at all. Gentle man before told her it was empty and did nothing to make coffee. Would not stay there again. Plus when I ask to receive copy of my receipt she said we can't print one...only email no thanks!
Be warned.. We booked this as a mini getaway to destress. We upgraded to a suite for the water view with a bath by the window. I was so excited to look at the water from the bath. We got the only suite with a parking lot view where people can see into your bathroom. When I asked what could be done, I was told to close my blinds and corrected that it's a river not an ocean. Great, thanks for the information but not helpful. The only reason the service gets 2 stars is the spa was really great.
We sere surprised when we pulled up to the hotel that it was located in an industrial area of the riverfront. The advertisement for the hotel shows views of a small craft marina but that wasn't our experience. The room we were given was at the end of a wing of the property that overlooked a mountain of cut logs waiting for shipment with logging trucks regularly going in and out with shipments of logs. Our stay started out good enough and quickly went down hill fast. The front desk was friendly and accommodating. We were taken aback by the very tired appearance of the building which appeared to be undergoing limited repairs. Our room was the same. The chairs in our room were dirty and frayed and the deck outside was in need of paint. Once we settled in we tried to turn on the television but it wouldn't work. After several calls to the front desk they sent someone up who worked for about 45 minutes on it. Finally we asked for a different room and they moved us next door. So we re-packed our belongings and moved. Again we tried the TV in the second room and it didn't work either. Same person came back and worked for another 45 minutes to 1 hour to try to get it working to no avail. At that point we said forget it that we would take it up with the front desk in the morning. About 30 minutes later we hear a scratching at our door and when we opened it we were shocked to find two individuals trying go get it. They said the front desk had assigned them the room. Possession is 9/10ths and we weren't moving again and they headed back to the office. The final straw as the next morning when we went down for the included breakfast only to find there was none. The person working the breakfast said the truck didn't get there in time with their supplies. It goes without saying we weren't happy campers when we spoke to the manager. They did give us a large credit for all our trouble but I wouldn't recommend staying there until repairs and upgrades are made. I would hope they would be a little more truthful with their advertising.
