What a find! We had an excellent stay here - the food was incredible, the room very comfortable and the staff friendly, warm and welcoming. We stopover in the Lake District each year on our way to Scotland. We shall definitely stay here next year!

We stayed one night for dinner, bed and breakfast on a stopover on the way home from Scotland. Great location just a few miles from the motorway but in lovely peaceful Lakes countryside. Dinner was really very very good - the 3 course menu with suggested wines was perfect. The room was very comfortable, super comfy bed - the furnishings throughout were high class. We had the full fried breakfast which was again delicious. Couldn't fault our short stay and all the staff made us feel very welcome. I hope we get the opportunity to stay again.

cosy, comfortable and clean room with lovely toiletries and soft towels. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. We enjoyed meeting them. The food was excellent, which is why we chose this stop over. Often disappointing, but not here! Wine was very drinkable and a treat to find. Reasonably priced, but value for quality and diversity.

We stayed just one night for dinner, bed and breakfast. Our 3 course dinner was amazing; it’s a small menu with little choice, but everything we had was perfect. They also bring a few extra tasty bits and the lightest, tastiest bread ever. Breakfast was more traditional, though with plenty of choice of cooked dishes. We were asked to order the night before and no fresh fruit was on offer, which we found surprising, Our room was a bit small, though very comfortable and clean. All the staff were friendly and professional and the location is superb. Definitely have to come again to enjoy cooking of this quality.

It was such a really lovely, comfortable, clean place to stay. All the staff were friendly and polite and were happy to chat. We decided to eat in the restaurant and the food was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend the taster menu - what a treat! Breakfast was also delicious - couldn't fault the place.

Beautiful room just perfect for our one night stay. So much attention to detail. We had the seven course tasting menu in the restaurant and it was fantastic, ended up having 10 courses in total! Great food and great presentation. The staff were very attentive

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here 2 evenings ago and had booked a room, 3 course dinner and breakfast package. I was absolutely blown away by the whole experience, and it far exceeded any high expectations I already had. The room was beautiful with lots of beautiful welcoming touches. The welcome was so warn amd friends day and this continued throughout our stay. The staff were wonderful. The quality of the food was truly exceptional and I have eaten in quite a few highly regarded restaurants.across the years. I loved the glass of wine pairing suggestion with each course, which we had with ou r starter and main courses. The breakfast too was marvelous and I would highly recommend the kipper where my.husband would certainly praise the full breakfast! The atmosphere was warm, friendly and relaxed and we loved every moment . We would absolutely certainly return. I should also say that I have a severe wheat intolerance and the restaurant were well able to happily accommodate this. They had baked me my own special bread roll, which was the best I've ever had. Thanks go to the whole team .

Lovely little village with three pubs. We stayed in room 6 which was brilliant, staff were lovely. Dinner wise we had mushroom and mackerel to start followed by halibut and venison, gorgeous. Strawberry and chocolate desert rounded it off, nice wine, and choice of cocktails. Breakfast was excellent too. We will be back.

My wife and I had a two night stay. in room 6. the was very well appointed bright and comfortable. Fresh coffee was available both in the form of coffee bags of the the Nespresso machine. The milk was in small UHT pots, But fresh milk is available on request.. The room is in the roof with sloping ceiling and beams running across the room. The ones at the edge of the are ideal for banging you head on. In daylight they are fairly obvious . but beware if you go to switch off the table lamp or collecting anything at the edge of the room when you are going to bed! The windows in the room are skylights and is is difficult to to see the hills through them ( and they do not open). Having said this the room is very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. However I will be asking for room 7 in future. Based on a previous visit that room is equally as well appointed ,though maybe, a little smaller and has normal windows and a less aggressive ceiling! We have visited in the past and will be visiting again in the future. And of course don't forget the Michelin standard restaurant.
