A classy little slice of Miami in Bournemouth! Both restaurants, Old Harry Rocks & South Beach offered a great choice of well priced food & drinks. Service was friendly & professional. Reception staff were also very helpful. & I felt cared about the hotel. We booked the “cosy” room (the most basic in the hotel) & it was perfect (minus the sea view obviously!) Super-king bed which was so comfy. Plenty of room with all the amenities you would expect in a 5 star hotel, including a good size bathroom & big shower. All tastefully done! The outdoor pool was a delight especially as the weather was so lovely for mid September. The pool is heated to 29c & there’s the option of the indoor pool. Nice view of the sea through the trees from both restaurants & pool area. A special treat!
The superior rooms were large, clean, nicely furnished with great views of the 1st tee and 18th green. The bed (2 twins pushed together) was extremely comfortable. Really nice bathroom. Some limited parking just outside the lodge was useful. Every member of staff was friendly, helpful, and polite. They went out of there way to make it a wonderful stay. Nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was well cooked and good value. We were two couples having a mini break. My husband and our friend both said the golf course was in good condition, challenging and fun. It helped they had great weather. While they were hitting balls around the course, myself and the other lady in the party both had head and back massages from the on site beauty therapist, and it was really relaxing and effective. I would recommend a visit. She was really lovely. Meyrick park is located a short walk to the pier, seafront, shops and restaurants. Although, due to a few steep hills we did get a cab back after a few drinks and dinner on the seafront. This was our first visit and it won't be our last. We will definitely be going back. Highly recommended from our party of 4.
We've stayed here 8 to 10 times before and it's usually been a great trip. My husband is disabled and Marsham Court have always had the facilities to cater for him. However, in staying there in April and Sept 2024, things have drastically changed for the worse. We found plastic in my husbands breakfast in April, which was dealt with with an extra nights stay paid for by the hotel. Fair enough. However, my husband is double incontinent but they only changed his dirty pads every 3 days! However the real problems started in Sept. Pads were changed every day this time, but the bedroom floor was filthy and wasn't cleaned for 48 hours after our arrival, despite management saying it would be sorted by 1pm the following day. The hoist that is used by our carer to transfer him from bed to chair then failed, suspending my husband in the air for 25 mins or so, before the engineers could attend, making marks on his body (marks of which were evident even the next morning). When I complained, the attitude of the director James Dixon was awful, with him saying I always complain and that we shouldn't come back to the hotel again. I only complain when there is a justifiable reason. I wrote a compliant letter afterwards and they wrote back dismissing my claims out of sight, telling me there are 2 other hotels up the north of England than can cater for us!! Avoid this place at all costs.
Decided to come to Bournemouth for a night away. After reading the previous reviews I was very pleasantly surprised! Reception staff were helpful and friendly, room was clean and spacious with a huge TV and bath. Noted other guests have said about the heat in the rooms but was able to adjust the room temperature with the aircon unit. Great location with only a short walk to town centre and Durley Chine. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the additional charge for parking.
ゲゲストBought a virgin experience day afternoon tea for mother's Day. We got round to having it today. Booked two months ago. Confirmed the booking by phone last night. Drive 1.5hrs to get to the hotel. Arrived and were seated l, got given a pot of tea. 20mins later we were told they couldn't find our booking (my mother and I and another couple who came in at the same time as us, on their 50th anniversary...4 of us) but had seated four other people for afternoon tea instead of us 4. They told us to wait and they'd sort out our afternoon tea. 45 mins later were told the chef basically wasn't going to be bothered to make us our sandwiches etc so we'd have to choose off the menu instead and it would be two courses and some drinks included. Asked for the club sandwich advertised on either brown or white bread. They had no brown bread. Eventually got food nearly 1.25hrs after arriving. Waiter then had the audacity to expect me to pay for drinks despite saying they were included. We had already cashed in our voucher to pay for afternoon tea and although the food was ok it wasn't what we wanted or travelled all that way for. They tried to accommodate us being there but we were made to feel like a complete after thought and it dampened the whole experience. The tea pot looked nice and that was the extent of our afternoon tea. They said we could take cakes home with us and when we asked them to pack them so we could take them away we were given the line they couldn't pack them due to health and safety and I was given a bag to pack them ourselves which made me laugh. Was a bit of a disaster and disappointment all around considering we booked well in advance. We confirmed by phone the night before then couldn't find us a day later. Knowing the difference between **** and elbow springs to mind. I think they cocked up giving the four of our bookings to another party then didn't know how to handle the situation. Wont go back there !!!
We had a fantastic weekend. Our usual friends get together. So lucky to have Alto perform Friday and Saturday night. Would love them nextcyear. Food and service etc all good as usual. The only gripe for our group was the temperature of the pool. They said it was 27 degrees, it was freezing. They have a new all singing dancing rainforest shower which you really need after getting into the pool. We've been going there for about 9 years and have never experienced the pool being so cold. We did speak to reception and they said the insurers won't let them turn the temperature up, we spoke to the manager and he said he's looking into it. So hopefully our next trip in 2025 the pool will be warmer. 🤞
