Welcome to The Wilson House! This charming 3-bedroom, 2-bath home is nestled in the heart of Waco, TX, just 2 miles from the Silos and 3 miles from Baylor University. Welcome—your perfect home base awaits!While we were working on the house we discovered a signature on the kitchen wall from the builder.Apparently a couple of his kids also signed the wall. The builder was Mr. E F Wilson. We believe the house was built in 1936. The stone house next door, which we also owned, was built by Gaines de Grafenreid in 1929, and added on later when he married and had two sons. The original owner of 2521 we believe was Gaine's younger brother. We saved a piece of the original kitchen wall paper which we framed and left in the hall closet. We thought it was a fun part of the history.The outside siding is mostly clear redwood. Because that old growth redwood is almost gone now (and is super expensive), we used cedar siding that was specially milled. We ordered it through Redwood Lumber in Waco. There are some planks of it in the basement. This 6 bed, 3.5 bath house can easily sleep 15 people. We are a mile from Foster Pavilion, and a short drive to Baylor University. If you are shopper ask for a my list of favorite stores off the beaten path!The SpaceThe house was built by Dr George Conner, a prominent African-American physician, and his wife Jeffie, the superintendent of black schools in the county. 3 bedrooms are upstairs, including the master with a King bed and ensuite, the bunk room with two twin beds in a loft (recommended for kiddos) and an additional full bed, and another guest room has a full bed. The upstairs also has an additional sunroom with a pull-out bed (full). Downstairs has two bed rooms. The first has a queen bed and an ensuite.
