We stayed at this wonderful hotel for 3 nights in March. It's location is a bit remote but we had a car so for us it was perfect. A coupe kilometres from the Valley of Temples and not far from a lovely small town overlooking the sea. The room was a bit small but very clean and well maintained. The hotel has a beautiful garden and lovely courtyard. We were very busy every day with sightseeing and the hotel restaurant was a perfect place to eat great meals every night. They also have a nice bar area to sit and relax. The reception staff is exceptional, they recommended a private guide to visit the Valley of the Temple it was a fantastic choice. They did everything to make sure that we were having a good stay. We would absolutely stay at this hotel again if we return to Agrigento.
The hotel is an old charming building high in the bill. The rooms are nice but small and some nicer than others. Breakfast was very nice. So that’s the good part. The challenges: 1. No one speaks English well so hard to get help when needed 2. Maybe there was free parking nearby once but it’s closed and now you need to find parking on your own and it is very hard 3. Driving to the hotel took us through the ZTL and unlike other hotels that handle this for you this hotel does not so looks like we will end up with a fine. On balance I would go elsewhere due to the challenges.
The Euterpe B&B can be described with one word: AWESOME. It is located on Viale della Vitoria facing the sea. With a beautiful promenade (reminded us of Nice, France) in front, walking distance to shops, restaurants etc. and only a 5 minute drive to the Valley of the Temples. A perfect spot in Agrigento. We were in Room 2...a very spacious room with a private balcony to sit and sip some Prosecco or just relax. Alessia is the ”chief cook and bottle washer” at the inn. She checked us in, provided us with a host of information on Agrigento, particularly regarding the Valley of the Temples, and she prepared breakfast for the guests. She is absolutely super! This is a must-stay spot in Agrigento...great wifi, exceptionally clean rooms, very well appointed and as I said an excellent location. Check it our for yourself, and I encourage you stay at the Euterpe...you won't be disappointed.
Frankly, you would be crazy not to stay at this wonderful place if spending a night or two in Agrigento as we just did. There are two reasons: the quality of accommodation and the amiable and incredibly helpful host, Andrea. The rooms are brand spanking new, everything is in tip top condition and barely used. Rooms are equipped with full size kitchenettes, including a full size fridge and oven. Everything works perfectly. Decor Is fresh, modern and tasteful , in fact it was one of the best we have stayed in on our 6 weeks in Italy. Location is perfect for getting (ie walk) to the temples and Via Atena (where all the night life and centre of the old town is). But it is the super friendly and helpful host/owner Andrea that really distinguishes. This fantastic place. In all our travels over the world, we have rarely met such a helpful host. Andrea generously transported us between major sites, as well helping us get to the car hire place with our luggage. An incredibly kind and welcoming host who really made our stay in Agregento such a special one. As stated earlier you would be crazy to not stay at such a fantastic venue, seriously!
Even if my family and I spent just one night at this clean and comfortable B&B the owner Ottavio really made us feel welcome and special. Long before checking in Ottavia had made a really good recommendation for a guide to tour the Valley of Temples. That guide truly elavated our temple experience. Ottavio also made a recommendation for a nice restaurant in town. But what really stood out was Ottavio’s efforts to reserve a parking spot for us at New Year’s Eve where a concert in town made parking spots sell out fast. How did Ottavio secure us a parking space nearby his B&B? Ottavio had parked his motorcycle on ‘our’ spot to hold it for us. As we approach his B&B in our rented vehicle Ottavio is literally waiting for us curbside, guiding us to the spot and then removing his motorbike to free up the space for us! This is customer service exceeding your expectations. Next morning’s breakfast was simple but really tasty. My favorite part were the delicious premium pastries which Ottavio had collected at a nearby pasticceria. Thank you again, Ottavio, for a wonderful stay and your outstanding hospitality.
Wow what an amazing place to stay the staff are lovely and friendly. The rooms are something else modern merged with some history . A highly recommend this property within feet of some really great restraunts. When arriving by train exit the station turn to your left and cross the road walk a few meters up the hill where the buses go .. when you reach the park on the left to walk through the park and follow the road ahead and you will get to the accomodation a lot faster. The roads are narrow and you will pass a lot of shops and eateries its a 10 minute walk to the accomodation.
I recently had an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience at Hotel Villa Romana. Not only was the stay itself subpar, but I also encountered a serious issue with theft and the hotel's refusal to address it appropriately. 1. Theft of $500: During booking, I was overcharged by $500. I immediately reported this to the hotel management, expecting a swift and thorough investigation. Instead, I was met with indifference and denial. The staff was completely uncooperative. 2. Refusal to Refund: After numerous discussions and escalating the issue to the hotel manager, it became clear that they had no intention of compensating me for the stolen money. The manager was dismissive and refused to take responsibility or offer any form of reimbursement. This level of customer service is completely unacceptable, especially given the seriousness of the situation. 3. Poor Customer Service: Apart from the theft, the general customer service at Hotel Villa Romana was extremely poor. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, making my stay even more unpleasant. Simple requests were often ignored or handled with a bad attitude, which further tarnished my experience. 4. Room Condition: The room itself was below standard. The cleanliness was questionable, with dirty carpets and a musty smell that persisted throughout my stay. The bathroom fixtures were outdated and poorly maintained, adding to the overall discomfort. 5. Lack of Amenities: The advertised amenities were either unavailable or not as described. The so-called fitness center was a joke, with broken equipment and inadequate facilities. Additionally, the Wi-Fi was practically non-existent, making it impossible to stay connected for work or leisure. 6. Noise Issues: The noise levels in the hotel were disruptive. Thin walls meant I could hear everything from the neighboring rooms and hallways, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. The situation was exacerbated by the hotel's location near a busy street, resulting in constant traffic noise. Conclusion: My experience at Hotel Villa Romana was nothing short of a nightmare. The theft of $500 and the hotel's refusal to address the issue or provide a refund is a serious concern that future guests should be aware of. Combined with poor customer service, substandard room conditions, and misleading amenities, I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. Save yourself the trouble and look for accommodation elsewhere.
I had read the reviews of this hotel and picked it because of its location to the valley of the temples. Honestly, I feel like the hotel is trying to do a bit too much. The location is about a 10 minute drive to the valley of the temples. However, it is in a section of town called San Leone which is an area that is a bit rundown. We did take a taxi into town and we were taken to a very lovely area. If you are interested in staying in a more upscale area, this is not the hotel for you. By the time we got to this hotel, we had been to several other boutique locations. I was expecting similar service, but we’re greeted with people who looked like had a very long day and did not even stand up to greet us. It just felt like they could barely be bothered to deal with us. Although they were nice, they just seemed kind of beaten down . I had booked this hotel by translating the website into English. While my first email was in English every other following email arrived in Italian. It took quite some labor to translate all of the messages. I feel like they could do better in dealing with English speaking guests. There are two parking areas. One is behind a closed gate and the other is simply an open air lot. Both of these parking lots are located across the street from the hotel. Because a tour bus was arriving we were encouraged to park in the open air lot. There was also no assistance to try to help us with our bags. Other hotels that we visited, had someone come to our car to help us unload. One of the perks is that if you have dinner at the hotel, they will provide you with a bus service to and from the valley of the temples. I believe they have a 930 drive to the valley and then a noon departure. I think they may also have a separate time frame, but because we had already pre-bought our ticket we did not take advantage of this. The hotel specifically calls itself a museum and spa. When you enter the hotel in the main lobby, there are several cases of artifacts that were found at the valley of the temples or nearby. These artifacts are actually very cool. Sadly, the little cards that were on them were all in Italian and I could not read them. in regards to being a Spa, we did not take advantage of the service so cannot comment on it. Not exactly sure where the Spa even was but other travelers have commented on it. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. My only comment would be that the door knobs were extremely tricky, and we had difficulty figuring it out until we spoke to a maid who hand gesture to us how to do it. They had a nice breakfast where you could eat indoors or outdoors on their lovely patio. Across the street is a pool and a small playground. I also heard that they have access to a beach, but we did not go there. If you have children, this would be a good location for you. There was nothing specifically bad at this hotel but there was also nothing specifically wonderful. It was a bit shabby and we weren’t greet
