The sweeping ramp and reception area that first greeted us then set me up for disappointment. The staff were well trained, effective and hospitable. check-in and out were quick, the porterage was good. The twin bedded room though was rather small in comparison to the two previous hotels we'd stayed in, in Uzbekistan. Not quite cramped - but I guess we'd just been pampered before. But the level of cleanliness, the degree to which they were furnished and appointed was faultless. The bathroom too was a matching ”foot or two” smaller than we'd have liked. The dining room, and the breakfast served there were faultless, tasty (do try the 'ring bread' , and the service very efficient.
Firstly the positives, this hotel has a lovely exterior and is perfectly located for the town and Bukharas many attractions. The room was very large with good aircon. However the rest of the experience was not so good. The WiFi was poor and only intermittent, there are 2 bars in the hotel , both were closed for the duration of our stay with no explanation. However there is a nice bar/restaurant just across the road with Zlata beer at 29k S’om. The pool is quite deep and seems really unsafe with no handrails. The bed didn’t seem to have a mattress , just a thin pad and was rock hard. Many rooms of our group were not serviced ( ours was) The breakfast was quite simply appalling, little choice, all very dry , items not replaced and usually no juice at all. There were eggs cooked to order on our last day only, but otherwise very little to tempt. All quite disappointing.
