It was our first time to stay at a Holiday Inn. We decided to try because the reviews were positive. We found the staff and shuttle drivers were helpful. However, the room was old and the shower was old and mouldy, unlike the picture shown on their website's room detail page. The armchair was old with a big stain, and we were afraid to sit on it. The room was dark with stuffy air and very noisy. I appreciate the prompt response to the water dropping from the shower head, which disturbed us all night, and the replacement with a new shower head. Unfortunately, the problem got worse and the sound of water dropping to the floor continued... Plus, the guest above us started using a shower at 1 a.m. and the noise of water and loud hissing pipes woke us up. The air conditioning remote control was not working properly. Neither 'auto' or 'low' worked. Only 'high' worked, which was noisy and made the room too cold. So, during the night, we couldn't keep it on 'high' and the room got so hot. We had terrible sleep during our three-night stay. The room condition was not acceptable, and I find it insulting to offer a room like this to hotel guests. We will never stay at a Holiday Inn again.
Our flight departing Calgary was cancelled for 24 hours so we were put up in this hotel by the airline. The staff was pleasant and accommodating, special shout out to Stacey in the lounge who worked so hard to make sure everyone whose flight was cancelled was fed and full of drinks! Also special shout out to the chef that night, he was alone and still managed to get all the delicious food out in a timely manner! These two really stepped up and made our rather gloomy stay much more enjoyable! The rooms were clean and comfortable, big soft pillows on the beds and you could control your own room temperature. The front desk staff also accommodated a late check out for us as we had so much time to waste the next day. Thank you to the staff, you’ve really worked hard to turn our trip around!
