I stayed on my own for 5 nights in this lovely hotel. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful - the best service I have received anywhere! They helped with booking taxis, finding a cashpoint, the train station etc. I had a small problem with my sink plug and that was attended to the same day. Even the cleaners who came to my room were lovely :) When I returned from a day out, I was always greeted warmly. I found the bed a bit hard for my lower back, but manageable, and the pillows were very big and comfy. The TV had a few English speaking channels for films. My room faced the sea' overlooking the pool and had a nice balcony with seating. There was also a small fridge in the room but there was a charge for using the tea & coffee making facilities and the bottled water. Breakfast is a huge buffet-style meal; it's mostly cold (fruit, pastries, yoghurt, cold meats and cheeses), though they also have bacon, sausages, mushrooms & tomatoes. If you want something not on the buffet , eg the only pre-made eggs are scrambled, it can be ordered, but the wait can be quite long. One morning it was 15mins, the next it was 20mins for a poached egg. In the evening there is a bar menu and also a full restaurant service. The hotel had only been open for a few months and was exceptionally clean and beautifully appointed. It's about a 10min walk down to the seafront - a bit longer back as it's up hill! It is next to a busy road and you can hear the road noise, but not see it as it's screened with hedges etc. The pool is quite small and unheated but nice to have somewhere to lounge outside- there is no garden. The town of Cascais has a huge municipal park with lots of trees, a cafe and plenty of different areas for sitting with a picnic. There are lots of birds there too - including free-ranging chickens! There are several sandy beaches in Cascais and plenty of museums and art galleries. Lots of places to eat with local food and some smaller shops - and of course, the beautiful black & white mosaic Portuguese pavements. It felt very safe as a solo female traveller. You can catch a train to Lisbon or Estoril very easily and cheaply. A day return ticket to Belem was 6 euros. There isn't a direct train service to Sintra, but the Tourist Information Office in Cascais has info about guided day trips - unfortunately when I was there most of Sintra was closed due to the forest fires further north and risk of them spreading. I believe there is a direct bus service.
We’ve had the good fortune to stay in many great hotels around the world and this was one of our favorite experiences. From the efficient and friendly welcome from Luiza on arrival everything was exceptional. The room was large, immaculately clean and with a pleasant terrace looking out into the manicured gardens. My wife used the spa three times, all excellent experiences. We had breakfast every morning and as well as being of very high quality, the service was attentive, prompt and professional under the conscientious direction of Paulo. With so many great restaurants in Cascais, it would be easy to skip the hotel and that would be a big mistake. We ate in there twice, both excellent. Creative and skilled and also with the top notch service, we’d come to realize was the hotel’s trademark. The evening bar was pleasant, well staffed and an enjoyable end to the evening. The staff, without exception, were first class. Professional, courteous and thorough without being stuffy or obsequious. I do think there’s real credit due to the general manager. Standards start at the top. Even allowing for the fact that the Portuguese are a friendly and welcoming people, it was outstanding. Lastly, a quick mention for Vanessa, head of housekeeping. The whole facility is immaculate, room service prompt and efficient and again, a reflection of the leader’s standards. Only one thing; the WiFi is average at best; but then we didn’t go there to sit and look at our phones! The best hotels are the ones you’re sad to leave….but on the other hand, we’ll be back
I Stayed here with 4 friends for 3 nights last week and we had the best time ever .. the rooms were amazing and worked with 2 sharing one suite and 3 of us another. We had so much space and 2 bathrooms for the 3 sharing. The hotel arranged transport from the airport to the hotel and then for our return journey. We were overwhelmed with how attentive ALL the staff were. From the breakfast team (breakfast was delicious ) to the pool staff who served cocktails, delicious rosè and lunch and moved sunbeds as needed and umbrellas to the reception team who couldn’t do enough plus recommending restaurants which were all fantastic. Then there’s the spa which was such a fun experience and my friend had a massage which she said was the best massage ever (she’s a massage expert) I couldn’t recommend this hotel more and cascais is a very special place
Really lovely hotel.which is kept spotless and staff are all so helpful and friendly..The lifts were a pain waiting for them.and it's not very obvious where stairs are... Food was delicious and pool kept spotless...Will.definitely return to this great place.Food
We stayed here for 4 nights and loved every second of it. This hotel was like something out of a Bond film. Every room in the hotel is unique with its own character. We had a room with a sea view (which I highly recommend reserving). The rooms were all charming, large with comfortable beds and amazing views off the (mostly) private patios. The pool was super clean and a nice area to spend time with a drink from the bar. Breakfast every morning was bountiful with fresh pastries, fruits, eggs, juices and coffee. The views from around the restaurant and pool area are the best in Cascais. Walk out the door and you are steps away from the town and some great shops, restaurants and bars. The train stop is also steps away if you want an easy way into Lisbon. We cannot wait to return!
A very special place to stay; combination luxury hotel, art gallery, historical fort. It was a special treat to drive in through the front gate of a fortress to arrive at the door to this hotel. (Although it was confusing that the signage indicated ”Pousada” rather than ”Pestana” which made us wonder if we were at the right place. Staff was excellent; room was beautiful; breakfast was delicious; amenities were perfect. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cascais, especially if they are visiting for the first time. It's a short walk to the centre of town and the wide variety of restaurants, shops and beaches. How often does one get to stay in such a unique setting!!
Built originally in 1945 and extended in 1960's. Really different interior. Original blend with modern portugese architecture. Rooms really modern with everything you need. Staff cannot do enough for you. So helpful. Bar food just what you want. Restaurant food was delightful. Really really good chef. Scenery was mind blowing. You have to see the pool to believe what I an saying.
ゲゲストThe thing about ”boutique” hotels is they often have limited rooms with little consistancy between them. Often the hotel is a former mansion or castle that has been converted to create the accomodations. The rooms featured on the website often look amazing but many of the rooms are often former butler's pantries or attic rooms the crazy aunt lived in with alll her cats so you have to be careful when booking. This place has some of that. Had we ended up in a former little closet room in the corner, we would not have been happy here. Fortunately we had booked the designer room with a balcony facing the ocean (210) which was fantastic to enjoy the ocean views. We moved the long bench from in front of the bed onto the balcony during the day to use as a sun lounger. Room was smaller but had tall ceilings and nicely remodeled. Comfy bed and nice bathroom with shower with all kinds of water options plus toilets had heated bidet hose. It is important to know that the pool area is seasonal due to the close proximity to the ocean and doesnt open until mid-April. During much of year it is closed as the North Atlantic waves thrash over the pool area filling it with dirty sea water. The hotel should state this on their homepage to avoid guests feeling a bit misled. I attached some pictures showing the pool area we had without any lounges and water looking like a sewer discharge. The weather we had was sunny and hot yet couldn't use the pool so felt frustrated. I'm a daily lap swimmer so had been hoping to use the pool in the mornings for my swims. The view of the ocean with the crashing waves against the rocks made the stay very relaxing. Also it is a nice short walk to town with wonderful views along the way. Additionally it is a beautiful walk or run to the west along the rock cliffs by the ocean. Truly magical location. The hotel itself was lovely and ecclectic with fun art throughout. Hotel staff was very nice and the included a quality breakfast buffet was tasty and plentiful. We had to leave in the middle of the night for a very early flight out. The manager had take away lunches for us which was a nice touch. We booked the hotel in part because it was part of the AMEX Platinum Hotel collection which comes with some additional benefits if you have the card. We had been to Lisbon many times but so glad we discovered Cascais this time. Certainly will be back.
I had the best time here. Spent three nights and i wish i could have stayed much longer. The lovely House in Estoril and its beautiful garden made me feel right at home. Placed a bit uphill with the vibrant sea with it's magical views just a stones throw away. You have Easy access to everything you need. Loved it!
MMarkusBThe Hotel in general is ok. If you stay for a longer time a change of the breakfast buffet would be a plus.
Avoid rooms on the side of the street if you are sensitive to noise.
Good hotel. I have a very pleasant stay here. Staff was friendly and professional. Nice and somehow trendy rooms. Rooms were clean, fresh and spacious. Also and my room came with a nice view. Minibar was available in the rooms. Only disadvantage might be that the hotel is located in a residential neighborhood. You will need to walk 1-2 streets before finding some buzz. Other than this, a perfect stay.
ゲゲストThere is a lot to say about this hostel but I'm not going to say just bad things because I stayed for two months It's a spacious place with a swimming pool near a train station, a wonderful beach for surfing and there are a lot of shops around The reception maintenance team is renewed quite often but generally they do their job well, they are people who come from afar for the most part, they are looking for recognition and a better quality of life. now we are going to talk about the big problems of this place caused by poor management of a surely negligent owner and one or more incompetent and irresponsible Manager During my stay here I saw five assaults, mostly on girls who work for the hostel. I never saw the owner or the Manager come to see anything or try to comfort his team, I had to intervene myself on aggressions inside the hostel to make the attackers leave we had to leave the place about ten days because of bedbug's On our return we had no compensation for this and the manager asked us to pay again the tourist tax that we had already paid, we should never have returned To newcomers, guests, or workers you can now have your own opinion before coming to these places think carefully many people left very quickly because they did not come to Europe to relive the same scenes of violence as in their country of origin. Cheers and enjoy your trip
