We stayed here on a cross country road trip. The hotel was easy to find and everything was great. They are renovating their Bistro restaurant so breakfast is temporarily limited to cold items, but the fruit, yogurt parfaits and breakfast breads were fresh and delicious. I just want to take a moment to commend TAYLOR for a warm and welcoming check in experience. She is special!
The Holiday Inn Casper East is an early 2000s Holiday Inn that is starting to show its age and needs exhaustive updating. In a city with mostly poor to mediocre hotels, the only things the Holiday Inn has going for it are the bar/restaurant and location, the latter of which is right off the interstate by the big-box stores and shopping mall. Staff were polite and well-intended, but owners and management are not investing the money this hotel needs. My room, a king suite, was superficially clean. I say superficially because there were crumbs and food on the carpet by the sofa, garbage from a previous guest in the cabinets, and garbage in the TV stand. The TV stand also had a left behind cord from a previous guest. Besides the cleanliness issues: My TV was from 2008. As in 15 years ago. Furniture was worn. Walls needed fresh paint. My. bathroom had mold or mildew in the shower-tub. Speaking of the bathroom, the towels were extremely well-worn. Think threadbare. No laundry bag in the closet nor any dry cleaning service. The decor and art in public spaces and the room felt very early 2000s. It was like taking a time machine back to 2002-2006. No newspapers in the lobby. Minimum IHG Diamond Ambassador recognition. Just a choice of points, a drink voucher or breakfast. No bottle of water offered. The drinks in the bar aren't bad. The menu looked halfway decent with something for everyone. Prices were fair too. However, my caesar salad was light on the parmesan cheese, the dressing wasn't tossed in the salad, and the chicken was bone cold -- who knows how long it had been sitting in the refrigerator. They didn't even microwave it. Despite a couple very good restaurants within walking distance, there is no incentive offered for hotel guests to drink or eat at the hotel. A meager incentive would capture the revenue that is otherwise being spent outside the hotel. All things considered, the Holiday Inn would be an okay value for $100 or less. But rates are well above that. Moreover, the hotel is outdated and below what you expect in 2023 from a Holiday Inn. It's at least 5 years overdue for a floor-to-ceiling renovation.
Upon arrival to the hotel, the front desk staff were efficient and accommodated my request to the top floor. The room has a sheet that states the executive floor rooms will receive a nightly snack. I called to the front desk to inquire and the lady had no idea what this was and wanted to send maintenance to see the paper. Of course I declined maintenance coming up. I’m in a room that does not face the pool and there is a lot of traffic noise. I use ear plugs when sleeping and kept the fan on. My room has a king bed and chair with ottoman. Coffee maker and fridge. Bathroom is clean. Toilet is very low and a challenge to me as I am very tall. Dinner last night was pork loin which was delicious; baked potato and salad with iceberg lettuce. I had a margarita which was a mix and not too good. The bartender definitely lacked professionalism and was not friendly. She needs a course on good customer service skills. Breakfast buffet was adequate with potatoes, eggs, sausage, pastries, cereal, waffles. The coffee was very good. This stay was booked for me. I’m not sure if I would stay here again.
CCrystal WVery friendly staff! Would definitely stay here again. Room was clean. And halls were quiet. And for the rate you can’t beat it! Breakfast was good and hot. All around nice hotel! Close to the highway. Very clean ground. Pool was nice and clean.
