We stayed just one night in a two bedroom apartment as a pit stop before heading to Mount Buller. The two bedroom apartment is small and cozy and very well equipped. Most importantly it was clean, aesthetically pleasing and the rooms had nice beds. It was a lovely bonus for our children to use the pool even in winter as it is covered. They also loved that they could have a hit of tennis. Our room was facing a hedge so nothing much to see out the window. Plus I wrongly believed we were actually staying in the old building, but no- there are rows of rooms hotel style separate to the building, not really shown in the advertisement- this is where the accommodation is. Not that this is a drama but good to say just incase anyone else books with this in mind. Our hot water service was switched off when we got there, and we only noticed when we tried to run a shower. Again not a major problem as my hubby just turned on the switch and we had to wait for the water to heat up. But if I was there on my own I probably would not have realised there is a simple solution. Plus reception is closed at 8pm so it could be an inconvenience. It’s great that you can hire snow gear and snow chains etc at the same premises. A great place to stay that is significantly cheaper than staying on the mountain if you come up to ski.
It's a typical motel from the outside so my expectations weren't particularly high, but we were pleasantly surprised. Plenty of room for my three teens and myself. Queen bed was comfy, but one of the bunk mattresses was missing a topper which made it very uncomfy (we swapped them around as we didn't need all the beds, so it was fine). Bathroom was modern, everything was clean. Kitchenette well-equipped, heater worked well which was welcome on a winter night. Guest laundry was handy but the drying room didn't seem to warm up at all, not sure if it was working. Location was ideal to wander through the town.
A pleasant place to stay when visiting the High Country and surroundings. Close to the town centre, shops and eateries (10 minutes walk). Solid brick construction means quiet rooms and generous space. Rooms are fully equipped and provide minibar services if required. Located just off the Maroondah Highway (High St), there is good access to wherever you wish to go. There is a Visitor Information Centre across the road from the Motel and two good bistros on the next street corner. Mansfield supports two large supermarkets and a medium sized variety store, together with outfitters for the high country pursuits of walking, mountain bikes and skiing. And an abundance of good cafes for the coffee and cake hit.
The owners were very friendly and let us know of some great places to eat with children and other activities. We took their advice and were not disappointed with their recommendations. The room was spacious and very clean and the separate kitchen facilities were a fantastic plus as we were able to bring breakfast for the kids and feed them early before check out. The location was terrific as it was a short walk to all 3 pubs, the coffee house we went to for breakfast and the local supermarket. I would recommend the travellers lodge to anyone
