On a positive note, the location is excellent to visit the Loire valley and its castles, a short drive from Blois, in the middle of a quiet park. The rooms, while reasonably comfortable, have nothing extraordinary or castle-like. There's a small kettle and a couple of tiny cups, no water, no mini-bar. The bathroom has just the minimum of toiletries: a tiny soap, shower gel and shampoo. No shower cap, cotton buds, body lotion, bathrobe, or slippers. It certainly does not reach the level I'm used to find in a 4-star hotel room. Breakfast is not up to a 4-star hotel. Tables covered in plastic (ugh…), with a croissant per guest on each table (hygienic?). No fresh juices, only one choice of eggs in a “boil-your-own-egg” appliance, ordinary bread. Service was also a disappointment. No information at check-in about common areas or services, other than the breakfast room. The manager and “lady of the castle” appears to have rather variable manners: with a few guests she was chatty and pleasant, with most just indifferent, and with some other peevish and rude, to the point of loudly telling off a guest because of a stain on the buffet tablecloth! The tone and contents of her answers to negative reviews here also reveal that character. Not once were we asked whether we were enjoying our stay or whether there was anything we needed, a common question, especially in a small-scale hotel. Not even at check-out did anyone ask us about our stay, so I don’t intend to “bother” them again.
Albergo situato in una posizione strategica per visitare 3 castelli della Loira. Personale gentile e disponibile. La struttura necessiterebbe di qualche manutenzione per essere top (tende e moquette). Camera pulita, letto confortevole, bagno ottimo. Colazione a pagamento. Cibo variegato. Rapporto qualità prezzo eccellente.
Bonjour.
Easy to find and well located just a 5 minute drive into Blois. Lovely friendly check in and we had a garden room as requested due to having our dog. Access from our room straight onto the garden area was perfect for us. Nice breakfast which we found to be good value for money. The hotel has pleasant garden areas to sit in. Our room was not large but ok if just sleeping in it. There is a great reception area to use anyway so not an issue for us. Recommend going to Parc Des Meers (especially if you have children or a dog).
Fabulous stay - fresh, new hotel - delightful staff, manager, restaurants, and setting. Best hotel we have ever stayed in (been going places for forty years now). Stand alone restaurant is just perfect - fine food, very pleasant staff and comfortable. Two starred main restaurant is just a wonder. Fine in every respect. Warm staff. Personable chef. Hotel manager, Kim, was just a gem - pleasant and helpful all the time. Go for a very special place to stay in chateau land of the middle ages.
Spend a weekend at a chateau in the Loire - hard to find anything that sounds much better than that! But this exceeded expectations. The property itself is lovely and genuine, but what really makes it is the hosts. The owners were essentially a fantastic concierge service - they gave us great advice both before and during our stay on what to do in the area and then helped us carry it out. We speak a bit of French, but their English is perfect and so language was definitely not a barrier. They recommended restaurants, found a guide for a tour of Chambord, and tried mightily to find some wine tasting for us on a Sunday afternoon (when all wineries are closed). They also spent nearly two hours giving us a fascinating tour of the chateau. I would definitely recommend and also return!
