This was the cheapest accommodation we could find in Darwin for a CBD location for 8 days. What a bargain!! On the Esplanade with all the other top class hotels, close to Shenanigans pub, Coles, Bicentennial Park, Peel Street with all its restaurants, shops etc. And that’s not all!! The room was older but was beautifully maintained, spotlessly clean, had everything that opens & shuts- washing machine, drier, dishwasher, iron, hairdryer, iron but no board, really comfy lounge, all you need for any length of time in Darwin. The air conditioning was excellent - just on and off, no fiddling, no dials, worked perfectly! This is so so important in the extreme Darwin climate! Reception daytime staff were excellent and the security guards on duty after hours leave a bit to be desired. They do their best but are quite inept. On the side we were on, we overlooked the youth hostel and Shenanigans Pub which were noisy till the curfew 10.00 pm so we couldn’t use the veranda, however, we didn’t hear anything when the door was closed. If we visit Darwin again, this would be our first choice!
We are in Darwin during a vacation in different areas, and will be travelling further east. This stay was very pleasant, rooms clean and little noise from outside. The location is beautiful in the city.
Starting from check in, Laura couldn’t have been more helpful. She gave us a list of sites to choose from as we are parking up for a while, Laura provided great information about which sites would suit us best in terms of shade. The resort is well maintained, clean facilities and friendly staff! Sarah
RRacegoerQueenslandThis hotel is comfortable, with large rooms, good air conditioning (important for Darwin!) and great water pressure with no lack of hot water. It is however a bit tired especially in terms of the bathroom with a shower over the bath, which is difficult for older people with joint problems. It could benefit from some basic refurbishment. The large foyer could also be made look more interesting as it is somewhat bare. We were also disappointed there was no restaurant or bar on the premises as it meant we had to go out into Mitchell Street, which seems to have bars and eateries more targeted to a younger crowd.
ゲゲストService at reception was good. While the room was clean, the bed left a bad impression; lumpy pillows, broken zipper on pillow protector, small but obvious stain on bedsheet & spiders on pillows. There’s a few more minor defects but for the money paid, it wasn’t up to standard.
Used Darwin Resort as our port of call while holidaying in Darwin, before road-tripping back to Alice. Found the resort to be almost ideal. It's not in Darwin City itself, which would be a problem if you don't have a car, but for those with cars, Darwin and Casurina is only about 10 - 15 minutes away, while it's also ideally situated for getting away from the city and out to Litchfield for the day. It also has quite a nice pool, and unlike many, actually has shade for it. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the restaurant is shut, but since we were on a budget holiday, that wasn't such an issue either. There were a number of takeways within a 5 minute drive, and we ended up eating at Casurina or Stokes Hill Warf anyway. Staff were professional and friendly, rooms were... well, hotel rooms. Airconditioned, clean, no noise - what more can you really say? Thoroughly recommend for families with cars.
