No breakfast. Some coffee. No decaf. No coffeemaker in the room. Broken handle on the toilet. Not many places to plug in electronics. Clean. Helpful staff. Comfortable beds and linens. There is an upholstered chair in addition to the desk chair. Might be on its way down as is the case with several RedRoofs we used to go to. As with all redroofs, pets welcome.
This is the first time our family has had a long-term hotel stay. We are one week in and I couldn’t be more pleased with our experience here! We have a 2-bed, 2-bath suite that very much feels like a home. I wish they had these everywhere we travel. I assume it has been renovated, but the updates were done well, especially the bathrooms. I have interacted with staff members from the front desk, maintenance, and housekeeping, and they have all been exceptional. Any small issue has been quickly taken care of in a kind, friendly manner. The place felt clean upon arrival and housekeeping did a fantastic job making it feel so fresh again on cleaning day. Oh, and everyone has been properly masked. There is a coin laundry, which I would prefer something that takes a card, but it gets the job done. Breakfast is limited, of course, but very well organized. This place is a perfect mix of old-school hospitality with some modern elements. The layout feels like a little village and even the other guests have been very friendly. I’m so, so glad we decided to go with Residence Inn due to location instead of our original Airbnb plan. I would drive even further to stay here. With the popularity of Airbnb, Marriott should really consider investing even more in this hotel model!
We had confirmed a reservation for a king room with a sofa. When we checked in they gave us our room, never mentioning that the hotel manager switched us to a double-double. When I got the room I discovered it wasn't the correct room, so I called to ask to be switched because my reservation was not a double double, He lied and said it was in fact correct, but I had had the confirmed reservation in hand with a King bed. He said no and passed the phone to someone more senior. She was even worse, she said no king was available and would be for the entire length of our stay and we could move to another hotel if we didn't like it. I said I wanted the room I reserved or I wanted a free night stay because you gave my room away. She said Bonvey members are the only ones with confirmed reservations and she could give my room away if she felt like it. when I asked where is this written she found the correct room. Lastly. Marriott is so very cheap, the soap is the size of a quarter, and the body lotion is lipstick. The sheets were like sandpaper and threadbare.
The hotel is nice and my staff experience was phenomenal. Front and breakfast staff. My issue with this place is the smell of cigarettes throughout one particular floor even in the room. Also the air conditioner unit is very very loud. So loud you can't sleep. The water in the room was very dirty and no hot water. We had to move our room and was told it was the entire side of the building concerning the hot water. Which was wayyyyyy on the other side of the building. We also had housekeeping repeatedly try to enter our room on check out day. The do not disturb placard was on the door. Check out time was 12 this happened twice before 9am.
This hotel is clean, roomy and comfortable , and the front desk was professional, especially Mr. Habram, he’s very polite and friendly. They provided free coffee every morning, although it’s free, but the quality is still good. Definitely will come back to this hotel!
Stayed here 4 nights. Location was excellent for quick access to both northern IL and Chicago suburbs, as is right on tollway. There are no restaurants close by as it’s not really in a town, but Deerfield is 10 minutes away and has a few places to eat. Price was very reasonable for what can be a pricy area. Hotel is large. Was well kept, and had decent breakfast with hot food items. The negatives are that the tollway is noisy, the pillows were awful, and if you have the misfortune of being assigned a room that has a connecting door to another room, and that room has a family in it or evening visitors, you’ll hear lots of noise! The hotel seems to be a launching point for servicemen affiliated with nearby military bases, so their families are staying here.
