イル カルミネ(Il Carmine Dimora Storica)

Two nights stay. Our room was on the small size but adeguate and clean. Breakfast was good, very tasty croissants. Staff very helpful. Good position, walking distance to the centre and main touristic points.

We had this converted convent almost to ourselves as we were traveling during the off season – two weeks before Easter. Consequently, the staff was extremely welcoming, lovely, and attentive. The place was completely quiet. The breakfast bountiful and the attention of the chef at dinner was amazing! We chose the Deluxe Room with a private terrace (see pictures) that you must walk up a little step ladder to get to, but it was a lovely place to sit for an evening apperitivo before dinner. It had a nice bathroom and was totally quiet in early April. It was great to be in Erice overnight as it is a magnet for day tourists and almost deserted in the evening. We stayed two nights and had the village almost to ourselves during our post-dinner passegiattas ... in a misty fog (pictured).

Hotel il Carmine was a tasteful historic building, generous bedrooms simply but tastefully decorated. Breakfast was very good with great coffee as well. Located in the beautiful medieval city of Erice the hotel and the city are like stepping back in time.

The location is wonderful and the ambience of the hotel as part of a former convent is quite historic. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant courtyard within the ancient walls of the convent is very a**ospheric too... and the dinner/lunch cuisine is of an unexpectedly high standard. The rooms are large -- we loved the double shower with a standing and sitting area -- and several have balconies overlooking the courtyard restaurant (which could be a disadvantage if you want an early night's sleep, of course). So far so good -- but the breakfast is below par for the standard of the hotel. Why can't they buy fresh bread rather than serve what seem like sliced stale pieces of bread to toast?; the jam in plastic sachets was simply tasteless; the fresh fruit selection was limited as were the range of the cereals, which were basically for children; and not a cooked item in sight. The only good things on the tables were the lovely cakes, made in-house. I know Italians don't eat much breakfast, but for northern Europeans this is not a heartening start to the day.

Was a good stay. Rooms clean and comfortable. Only issue was we lost WIFI. They said it was due to the storm we had that night.

Nice hotel in a, quiet location at the end of town. You can get to everything from here on foot. Good directions on where to park, what to see and do. Very nice staff. It would have been helpful for the hotel to send WhatsApp directions on the best way to reach the hotel; we ended up in the middle of the cobblestone town trying to navigate through it. Instead there was a second easier way (all paved roads) to the hotel we found out when leaving.

Il Carmine was previously a religious building and I can only feel envy for its past occupants - a beautiful building with lovely cool rooms and shuttered windows. It’s in a great location with virtually no noise around the building. The restaurant is also lovely!

Very clean, comfortable beds, cold ac on the opposite side of town from the duomo. Easy to exit Erice. Hard to get to by car.

Superb hotel! Definitely recommended. Parking was super easy & right beside the hotel. Erice is a beautiful city so if you have the opportunity to get there, I highly recommended you go to Il Carmine
