A huge disappointment. We looked forward to this stay as the location and restaurant as shown on the website promised a stay to remember. It was, for the wrong reasons. We were told we could not park the car in the castle grounds, which meant we could unload then take the car to the car park below and then walk in the stifling heat back up the hill to the hotel. Then at 6pm repeat the process. We took our belongings to the room and noted other people had parked and were not moving their cars. We followed suit and there were no issues. The room was small and as it was very high the window could not be opened. There was no aircon in the room, but there was in the hall outside. The temperature was above 30 degrees. We went down for a drink and the poor girl on reception had to dash over to serve us, staffing issues like everywhere else. The restaurant was a joke, the food was sub-standard for somewhere that charges such prices. Our starters were tasteless; my main of turbot was nothing like any turbot I have eaten. I have always lived by the sea and know my fish. This was two tiny portions of what looked like tails of a small plaice and not even dressed properly. It was a very small dish more like a tapas size. My wife loves lamb but she found hers inedible, it was chewy. My dessert was listed as chocolate mousse, and was grainy and dense, not at all a mousse. A dreadful meal.
