I was given a room with a bed with a broken leg… they told they could fix it, obviously they didn’t. Asked to see the manager, I was told by the lady at the des he was very busy because, well he is the manager, and he might not have time to see me, the client. Eventually he (Ivo) came, gave me a worse bedroom (without a desk), when asked if he could get me an upgrade he answered he was still open for reservations and couldn’t give me the room in case it could get booked. The room’s window faces an inner courtyard that you can hear the bar….

Breakfast was superb - could not be bettered. A second coffee machine would reduce the queues. Taking our breakfast in the street was an additional delight. Swimming in the sea before breakfast was also superb. We think that the rooftop bar is good during the hours of daylight but a bar next to reception would be an asset in the evenings.

Location of hotel is excellent with many Funchal sites very close by. The staff were friendly and helpful. I am a handicapped man, and the staff were kind to help me out with all requests. The breakfast selections were wonderful and changed up a bit each day. The rooftop bar was a haven of relaxation with great views of city. The hotel lobby area is very nicely appointed with many antiques great for photos. The hotel's restaurants were close by, and food was healthy and filling with many local favorite dishes. Improvements could be made in the following areas: 1. Hand sanitizer station should be placed as you enter breakfast room. 2. Housekeeping needs to check items in room to see if items need to be replaced, towels renewed, etc. Many requests I had to front desk to housekeeping were not fulfilled! 3. Air conditioning in room was very weak. Could not get room cooled off. It helped that window opens for the air outside was cooler than in the room. Despite the above items, I would return to this hotel anytime and would highly recommend this hotel any visit to Madeira. Thank you for a lovely visit!

Very central location, convenient for all that Funchal has to offer. Staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and the roof top bar is a marvellous place to sit for an early evening drink overlooking the sea before dinner. The barman made me a gin sour - best I have ever tasted!

Lovely hotel in central location reception staff very friendly and helpful We had a suite on the 4th floor, huge bed but very hard room very clean and well presented Toilet and shower are glass cubes in the middle of the room with a privacy curtain on one side we didn’t find them very private We used the hotel restaurant every evening service and food very good and reasonably priced We had difficulty getting picked up in a taxi as no road access you don’t know where they are going to park

from the moment we arrived at the reception with my wife everything has been just great ! The welcome and plenty of warm and little attentions from the reception team ! Rooms : beautiful and clean! Lounge very cauzy Breakfast: amazing and with an interesting variety ! Bar on the rooftop top ! We had the chance to have place to a FADO evening organized by the Team of the Hotel with a dinner on the rooftop bar, quite a moment ! The Reception Team has also thought to a gift for the birthday of my wife, unexpected and very welcome, compliments !!! The last but not the least important, the lady taking care of the preparation of the cakes at the hotel, Adriana, prepares amazing cakes ..and gave us time to explain her amazing recepees ;-) so, our evaluation, is a 12 on 10 !!

Amazing location for all that Funchal has to offer. The terrace bar has amazing views with both cocktails and cocktails that were delicious. The rooms we kept very clean by the housekeeping staff Overall we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff.

The location in the centre of Funchal by the cathedral suited us perfectly. The staff at the front desk always greeted us with a smile. The guys serving in the rooftop bar did a great job. Breakfast was excellent and with plentiful choice. Would definitely come again.
