We stayed as a twosome in the Premier Inn, Guildford North, for three nights. There we met up with three people whom we seldom manage to see, because we live hundreds of miles apart from each other, and having time together over a leisurely meal was important to us. Our ages are 80,80, 81, 85 and 94 respectively. Our rooms were much as one would expect from a Premier Inn, and the hotel is a much quieter place in which to stay than its position close to a busy road might suggest. The outstanding feature of our stay was the calibre of the staff, and the extent to which they did all they could to look after us. All of us felt so well watched over and cared for. For example, on our first morning, we were allowed to spend two hours lingering over our breakfast as we caught up animatedly with each other's lives. This included giving us the opportunity to ”stay put” whilst the staff began to lay out the tables for lunch. There was always a member of staff willing to give us a helping hand with cases and the like if we looked in need of it. Nothing was too much bother for them. To be treated with such care and concern mattered a great deal to us. We would certainly go back again.
A nice old hotel right in the middle of the high street. Room good and the welcome pleasant. If staying I strongly suggest you ask for a room at the rear of the building. All night long vehicles unload in our case right under our window, making it impossible to sleep as the sash windows offer no sound proofing. Would I stay again - most likely not.
I had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were spotless, making for a very comfortable stay. The breakfast offered a great variety and was delicious. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it!
I stay here every time I visit family in Guildford … I wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else … very friendly but professional, clean and comfortable, breakfast superb especially the poached eggs !! The garden is a delight … See you again soon
Not sure where to begin. The first problem was on the day when my treatment was terrible. after i wrote the following email to the spa: ”I went for a spa day on Saturday 14th September for a friends 30th birthday. The spa facilities initially looked lovely, good facilities and the afternoon tea we had was also very good. But, my facial at 11 was absolute terrible. I have had probably 30 to 40 facials prior to this, and this was by far the worst I have ever had, if it can even be called that. I appreciate that each therapist will have their own technique, but this was so unprofessional and I would be shocked if the therapist was even qualified! The following is a brief overview: - The therapists were all running a bit late and organising just getting to the room was chaos. The Chap that was originally on reception was showing a new therapist round in front of all the guests and then the therapists were all chatting with him because they didn’t know who was having which client. - When we finally got to the room, it was already nearly 10 past 11 (appointment was 11 for a 50 minute facial). I was in a shared room with my friend and another therapist. By the time the treatment finishes it was 11:51 so the treatment was only 40 minutes. I'm not normally picky, but when treatments are pricey, this is quite a long time to have treatments cut down by. - The facial itself was in no way relaxing, all products were just slapped on my face and then scrubbed off with a flannel each time. There was no professionalism to it at all. - TWICE the therapist got products in my eye. The first time she got the scrub in my eye and had to use the towel twice to clean it. The second time, she got the mask in my eye and again I had to clean it myself. I asked for a cotton pad to clean it as it was stinging, the therapist tried to open my eye and wipe it! I recoiled and said no thanks, ill wipe it myself. - When the mask was on, she went on to perform a massage on my neck/shoulders/head. Not sure what she was doing but it was in no way like any other massage I have ever had. She used no kind of oil or cream until right at the end so most of the time was just rubbing my skin. She kept trying to twist my head further to the side to the point that, at one stage I said ow! Because it felt like she was trying to pop my neck! Then she went on to just scratch my scalp all over and then got all my hair in her hand and was pulling on it. - She removed the mask and went on to “massage” in some sort of oil to my face. which consisted of her pinching my skin on my cheeks up and down and repeatedly slapping my cheeks. She did not have short nails so it kept scratching me, very unpleasant. Having spoken to both friends after the treatment they both enjoyed their own treatments. I was hesitant to say too much to the therapist when the treatment was taking place of just after because I was in a shared room with my friend and I didn’t want to spoil her birthday experience. the rest of the
We recently stayed at this hotel as a family of 10, booking several superior rooms. Unfortunately, our initial experience with the rooms was disappointing. The superior rooms were far below expectations — think shabby Travelodge. After raising the issue with the staff, they did move us to more appropriate rooms, which was appreciated, but we were charged for one of the room changes as it had to be an upgrade which, given the time it took and the disruption to our first day was disappointing. The buffet dining experience was also underwhelming. The food quality reminded us of school dinners — it did not live up to the standards we expected from a hotel in this price range. Breakfast was OK. On the positive side, the staff were very helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to assist us with our concerns, and their service was the highlight of our stay. However, there was a significant overcharge on each room's final bill. Thankfully, this was resolved after we sought clarification, but it added unnecessary stress to our departure. Overall, while the hotel has some strong points, particularly with its excellent staff, the quality of some of the rooms and food needs improvement. With better attention to detail, this hotel could offer a much better experience.
