I stay at hotels that offer kitchens because I have food issues and I have to say the kitchen was so well appointed. I was so pleasantly surprised. Also the set up of the room is so well thought out to optimize comfort and utility. Loved the stay. Street parking, if you don't use the hotel parking, is extremely cost effective and easy if you download any of the Pittsburgh parking apps. Breakfast, according to my husband, was just okay because all of the food was cold and the quality was mediocre, at best. Also, be careful when you exit their driveway. It is a no right turn, but there is no sign posted. We actually saw a person make a right heading straight for head on traffic. Fortunately we stopped him. Very dangerous!! On a side note, one staff member was not overly friendly, but all of the rest were. The unfriendly one was curt and efficient. She did seem to struggle with being friendly. I didn't mind.
This used to be my favorite place to stay when I was in Pittsburgh on business. First, I do not like that Hilton has changed their policy to a $10 credit for breakfast instead of free. I am a diamond member and I should not have to pay for breakfast. Besides, the breakfast buffet has taken a downturn. Eggs are like rubber!! I am supposed to get a $10 credit each morning, I did not get the credit. Once my corporate card is billed, I cannot fix a billing issue. Next, every night I would get disconnected from my internet every few minutes. Then I would wake up in the middle of the night very hot, the AC turned off due to what must be a motion detector!! There is Marriott property two blocks away. I guess I will be changing hotels on my next visit in June.
This is a nice old hotel that reminds you of yesteryear. The front desk folks were awesome, as well as the bar staff. The location is great if you’re okay with a short walk to the Pirates ballpark or Market Square. Restaurants just outside the door. My issue with this place which is why I rated it average was the maid service….or better stated, the lack of maid service. This is not one of those places where they only come by every other day. Check in is day 1, on day 2 I get to my room that evening and it was not made up, called the desk and they offered to send someone up and said they comp some Bonvoy points. I was tired and passed on anyone coming up that hour. She said she leave a note for housekeeping. Day 3, again no room service…called and talked with the same lady, she said she comp some more points, and ensure the housekeeping manager was made aware. Again I was too tired for anyone to come up that evening. Day 4 yup you guessed it, no room service…once again I was told I’d get comped a few more points. And thus time the on duty housekeeping manager and two housekeepers came by…I needed towels and smelly trash removed. The manager said she wanted to make it up to me and said she’d send up a couple beers. No beer showed up, another empty promise. In total I was comped just 500 points. I expected at least 500 for each occurrence. I’m going to notify Marriott of my disappointment. Human error happens, it how the establishment responds and resolves those errors that really count.
I've stayed here more than a dozen times, and this hotel has a lot going for it: friendly staff, great location, cool building, nice gym and amenities, it's absolutely failed in one area each and every single time: housekeeping. Whoever is in charge of the housekeeping here needs to be replaced. The biggest problem is them just ignoring you. I've gone out for the whole day, just to come back to an untouched room - there's even times where I've asked, even begged at times, for them to clean my room, only to come back to dirty towels on the floor and an unmade bed every time. They simply refuse to do to it, despite promising me to my face that they would. I don't think I've ever come back to my room and it was made up. It's almost like housekeeping here is completely non-existent. Here are some more housekeeping failures: - I've checked into a room before, only to find a bunch of dirty towels from the previous guest hanging on the back of the door and on the bathroom floor. - The supplied body wash and shampoo is almost always empty. - I asked for an extra blanket, only for housekeeping to tell me: no, they don't do that. - I've asked for my towels to be refreshed while out, only to come back to a pile of new towels on the floor inside my room. - The bathroom showers are not thoroughly cleaned, and a lot of times, pretty gross. - They never refill the coffee or the cups. (I'm not kidding, I bring my own cup and pods now). A hotel charging upwards of $500 a night should not have these issues. For that, I expect my bed made and new towels daily. Is that too much to ask for? At the Industrialist, it absolutely seems to be. Whoever is in charge of housekeeping sucks big time. I'm sure they'll post the usual: thank you for bringing this to our attention. We'll do better. But I can promise you they won't. I've been told that by the hotel in person, many times, only to have them fail the very same day. Also, just want to point out, as much as I despise the lack of housekeeping here, the attached bar, staff, and location make me put up with it. They do great, but their housekeeping is horrible.
Bbarbt432The room we reserved months ago was not available upon check in. They said it was because of maintenance issues but this has happened before. They tried to put us in a small room with 1 bathroom for 4 adults but we weren't having it and eventually they just gave us 2 rooms. Took forever - very disappointed.
For a four star hotel, I have received much better service and a more user friendly check-out/reservation system than this hotel elsewhere. I was not able to book the special conference rate for my entire stay, despite others from my group being able to do so. When I called, I was told they had ”sold out” of the special conference rates. I was forced to make two reservations, which I think confused the front desk during check-out. I asked the desk to split the bill between my roommate and I since we are state employees, and they acted as if I was asking them to perform an impossible task. They said it was too late to do that because my credit card was on file since it had been used to hold the reservation. It has been two days, and I am still getting the run around and being disconnected from customer service. The quality of the rooms was sub par as well. Our sink stopped up in the middle of our stay and we could not brush our teeth. The wallpaper was peeling in our room, and there was mold on the grout near the shower. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, but especially business travelers. I am sure you would receive better service and a more pleasant stay at other hotels.
Weekend in Pittsburgh for a concert at Mr. Smalls, then some sightseeing. This was close to Millvale and the ***** district, and had some of the best pricing in the area for the amenities I was looking for: shuttle, pool, free breakfast, free WIFI. Also hoped for free parking, but even with paid parking, the daily rate was less than others in the area. The hotel is modern and clean, albeit laid out a little weird- you park in the back on the second floor, and have to go downstairs for the check in desk. There are both stairs and elevators, so access is not an issue. And there is a door on the first floor street level, as well as a limited time parking area to pull up to that door and check in if you wanted to. Do not be intimidated by the neighborhood- the surrounding houses look a little worn, and there were some panhandlers around, but we came and went at all hours and never felt unsafe. Do mind traffic as there are some pretty large, somewhat confusing intersections nearby (though that seems to be kinda par for the course for the city). Our room was nicely appointed, and we had a decent view of the city from the fourth floor (facing the main road). There is also a patio/deck on the sixth floor if you like wide city views. The heated pool was wonderfully relaxing, but check if there are towels in the pool area before entering! Breakfast included cereals, breads, waffles, small selection of yogurt and fresh fruit. There were also hot items- scrambled eggs and sausage for the two days we were there. I can't have gluten, so I was grateful for the hot items, but unfortunately the eggs were somewhere between rubbery and hard both days. Sausage was delicious though. And please stock more bananas! The shuttle was very handy, especially when we got caught in a rain storm after walking across to the ***** district for dinner. Make sure you take a card with the phone number at the front desk! The driver was super friendly and knew her way around well. Mattress was a little too hard for our tastes, but the mix of squishy and firm pillows was great! and there were five of them for two of us, so we had options to get comfy with! WIFI was decent strength and easy to connect to. Our room faced the street and highways, but the street noise was minimal. Good blackout curtains, too. Overall, we were happy with our stay. We felt safe, clean, and partner really enjoyed the waffle maker and yogurts at breakfast. Would stay again.
5525ileneaA convenient location to the downtown attractions such as PNC Park and the football stadium. We were in a huge apartment size suite. It’s clean. There were nice dispensers of Dove brand soap, lotion, shampoos, conditioner and body wash. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Breakfast is ok. Nothing great. The traffic flow at the buffet table is not well planned. No one was wiping tables clean. They run out of napkins, forks, half and half. They are not replenished quickly. Later in the day the complimentary coffee station was not refilled promptly. The Coffee Mate pump dispenser is not a great or sanitary option. Other hotel chains offer the individual creamer containers. But all in all the place is fine.
ゲゲストThe hotel is close to the center of Pittsburgh (south side of the Monongahela river). The city can be easily explored on foot from there, you can reach the downtown area in 30 minutes on foot. Only negative point is that you need to walk through rather shady area which might some people feeling unsafe with. The hotel itself is good, the room was spacious and the beds very comfortable, the bathroom though showed tiny spots of mold - nothing serious though. Breakfast was served downstairs in a nice environment. It had a big selection (eggs, bacon, sausages, sweets, bread, cream cheese, jam and yoghurts as well as oatmeal) and was very tasty - which we enjoyed.
The coffee machine inside the room was really crappy, I pressed the button for inserting the coffee and it fell almost apart. I notified the receptionist and he told me I could always get coffee and hot water from the breakfast area which was highly appreciated.
As I stayed there on a weekend I used a public parking lot - for free - in the direct vicinity and did not pay for the rather expensive hotel parking.
