Petra Village

Clean, quiet and comfortable accommodation. Swimming pool, sea views, bar and a mini supermarket just up the road. Friendly team working here. I’ll definitely return.

This accommodation is lovely and situated in the most perfect area, on top of the hill with a beautiful view of the sea. And to the left of the apartments is a very nice village with many restaurants and bars. Well worth the money! Clean, comfy and staff were very accommodating

This place was just what I needed and what I expected with the price I paid. Basic, with all the necessities. The staff are very friendly and will always help. Food and drinks very good and reasonable price. Will definitely booo again

I’d just like to start by saying please don’t let the negative reviews and photos put you off. Every hotel will have a bad day, a bad room and some bad guests. I can assure you this isn’t an accurate reflection of Petra Village. Rooms are basic, but everything you need to have a fantastic holiday. You have the option of the pool and bar, or you can use it as a base to explore the beautiful area. Thank you Vas and Vassssso for a great holiday

This hotel is lovely. A typical family run Greek hotel with the best hospitality. Our room was big, clean, great view from the balcony. The pool area is excellent… wide open sunbathing area with loads of loungers . The bar snacks served all day were good especially the breakfast. We’ve booked with Vaso for September. It’s our 5th visit to the village and our 2nd stay at Petra… in all our years of many holidays, we’ve never returned to the same hotel but I feel drawn back here…

We visited Petra village with my family!The place was wonderful, the location very good(5 minutes driving from Hersonisos)!The rooms were very clean!!! The staff Vasilis and Vaso was very helpful and friendly and they made us feel like we were at our hope!!!

Best time ever. Vaso and the team are amazing. They’ll do anything to help. The rooms were very clean! Could not fault them. Comfortable, and good value for money (we paid for flights and hotel separately) Will be returning next year! Can’t wait to make more memories

After arriving at midnight we were told what room had been allocated and left to it. The room had not been cleaned after the previous occupants had left. We were given another room after waiting an hour. Although this one had been cleaned it was very outdated. The toilet window was broken and was covered with a piece of sticky back plastic, there was mould on the walls and the curtains looked more like rags and barely fitted across the windows. Adding to this there was a problem with the electricity and a large generator was running all day in front of the pool area meaning all you could hear and smell was the generator. The sun beds were filthy and the whole place needs a total revamp. No way is this 3 star accommodations I wouldn’t even give them one.

Echo everything said in the negative reviews. Before we came here I thought I would wind up the missus by showing her the scene in the inbetweeners movie where they arrive at the hotel. Oh dear, the reality was worse. On a positive note, Petra Village LOOKS nice from the road and the bar and pool area are pleasant if you ignore the boorish UK regulars getting aled up. However the apartments are disgusting. -The bins are meant to be emptied every day but it was every other day if lucky. Given you cannot flush toilet paper down the toilets and the bathrooms have no extractor fans, the stench becomes pretty grim pretty quickly. -On arrival late at night we had the keys given to us, no directions where our apartment was and told air con was an extra €6 a day. The air con was very intermittent and had clearly seen better years (decades). -The beds are concrete slabs with a matress. -The bedding and towels had suspicious soil marks. -The shower curtain was so mouldy that it practically walked. -There is no way you could self cater as virtually no equipment and what there was was dirty and rusty. The microwave looked like it hadnt been cleaned in years. -There was one maid for the entire complex and it was clear it was too much for her. -Reading the positive reviews there are glowing reviews of the owners and how friendly they are. Whilst we were there they spent all their time at the bar smoking and on their mobile phones. Overall I got the impression of a tired, dirty complex that needs gutting and starting again. The local village on the other hand is a gem, full of fantastic restaurants and welcoming people. We MAY visit Crete again but would give Petra Village a miss.
