The main level stays nice and cool. There's a full size washer and dryer for your use as well and I do keep detergent handy for you. There are on average 228 sunny days per year here! The average summer temp is 80 degrees and winter can be in the 30’s-40’s. Many stores and restaurants stay open year-round! Custer has many fall/winter events. We are about 1 hour from skiing at Terry Peak. We are at a higher altitude....some people will feel the affects of the higher elevation so if you are not used to it, be sure to rest and hydrate!WHAT RESTAURANTS ARE OPEN YEAR-ROUND?The Custer Wolf, Custer Beacon, Skogen, Buglin' Bull, Hjem AM, Sauce and Dough, Pizza Hut, Subway and Maria's Mexican are a few of the restaurants that are open year-round (although many take an extended break in the winter.)IS THERE A PLACE TO RENT BIKES AND UTVS?YES! Black Hills Power Bikes is a great way to see the Mickelson Trail. For UTV/ATV rental we recommend Hill City Adventures. Also, if you need a bike shuttle, there's Dave's Adventure Tours. HOW MANY HIKING/BIKING TRAILS ARE THERE?We have over 70 miles of hiking in and around the park. Other than the Mickelson Trail (500 feet from the house) we put our favorite hikes (including Black Elk Peak) in the guidebook.ARE THERE STORES NEARBY TO BUY FOOD?We have Lynn’s Dakota Mart and two dollar stores.
