Arrived early at the resort due to the Jet2 flight times…room was not ready until just after the 15.00 check in time. Booked half board hoping to change dinner for lunch, something we have always done elsewhere. Told it was not possible at the Barcelo. Therefore had to upgrade to AI so that we could get lunch at the hotel. The hotel is quite remote and approximately 3/4 mile to the nearest bars / restaurants. My opinion is that the hotel is just too big and it was necessary to negotiate a series of steps/ramps and elevators to get to our room, with no offer of help with our suitcases. Checkin was in the new part of the hotel where we stayed in block 7 across the road at the old hotel. We only had dinner once in the hotel and what was very much a copy /paste of lunch. Probably some of the worse buffet food we have experienced. There was a permanent queue at the bar on a evening and the drinks were watered down with mixer and ice to the point they were tasteless. Apart from the reception area, the rest of the public areas were looking tired and lacked maintenance.All in all a bad experience and could not recommend this hotel. The only positives were the gymnasium and the room was clean.

We recently stayed at the Royal Level, and from the moment we arrived, it exceeded our expectations. The entertainment from day one was fantastic, with a great variety of shows at the Asana, and the wine selection was impressive. The pools were spotless and never too crowded, making for a relaxing experience. We spent a lot of time at the Goa Bar, which became our go-to spot to unwind. The staff were exceptional—always friendly, helpful, and constantly smiling, which added a lovely personal touch to our stay. Our children had a blast with the kids’ entertainment; the reps were incredibly kind and attentive, ensuring our little ones were well taken care of. One evening, we dined at the Italian restaurant, and it was a highlight—highly recommended for anyone visiting. The rooms were spacious, cleaned daily, and well-stocked with essentials like water, tea, and coffee, which made our stay even more comfortable. We don’t often feel compelled to return to the same hotel, but this one is an exception. We’d love to come back!

The rooms to the front do have a balcony overlooking the sea, the rooms to the other side of the building have a Juliet balcony overlooking the mountains and the city, which personally, I felt was the poorest capital city I have visited in Spain. The rooms in the middle don't even have a Juliet balcony! I wasn't in them but they surely get all the noise carried out through the inner courtyard, the people on the corridors, talking guests, suitcases carried... The rooms per se are fine, spacious and clean. If you are having to find a hotel in the capital, then this is perfect, otherwise, look a better accommodation place. The breakfast is alright... the coffee is poor quality. There is no pool, but the beach right opposite is great. the wifi is fine to be fair, maybe a bit shaky in the evening when all guests are using it. Out of the staff members, Alex (reception) is the best and the guys at the breakfast bar; but others are not committed to provide a good service to the guests (avoid the reception manager at all costs, she has some attitude issues, especially for this type of business). The worst part of being a city hotel is the location of the garage, which is nearby... but logistically, it's a nightmare.
