My wife was extremely impressed with the service from check-in to checkout. Friendly staff from the housekeepers to the maintenance and cooking staff during breakfast. We would highly recommend this establishment to anyone traveling to the Jacksonville Beach area. We know we'll definitely be back in the future!!!
Conveniently near Jax Beach and all the beaches along A1A and also a short drive to the Mayo Clinic and all other suburban areas of Jacksonville. At check-in I was given a room on the first floor facing the pool and I complained about a musty urine like smell and the front desk was nice enough to transfer me to another room but still on the first floor and facing the parking lot. The bed was comfy but I was not sure if the AC was working properly. The windows can’t be opened and it felt stuffy. Otherwise, it was quiet at night despite being in the middle of Beach Blvd. Breakfast was basic fare. It is a Holiday Inn so set your expectations accordingly but it’s a good value and wise option if you plan to spend all day in the beach or the entire day out and about and just go back to the hotel for a good night’s sleep.
Been a guest multiple times, but have noted some drop off since new ownership took over. Hope they read this review and reevaluate. A. First the financial ones 1. Dramatically raised the number of points you need to use to stay with Marriott Rewards - not the end of the world as we can use points elsewhere 2. Increased the breakfast rate to $18 per person - Weird, as they have a very small dining area and very few people eat there anyway - guessing this helps them get a better reimbursement when Elite members are awarded complimentary breakfast. 3. Parking rate increased to $18 per day - this may be the slimiest as hotels do not have to list parking fees at rsvp times (different from ”resort fees”). This one is surprising as multiple properties in Jax Beach do not charge for parking (Springhill next door has free parking). B. Property changes 1. Poolside umbrellas are gone. Maybe they were being cleaned or replaced, but the pool area has about 100% sun all day long and the lack of umbrellas this time was frustrating. 2. They removed the trash cans from the guest room floors? Maybe they think this improves the appearance, but now folks just leave trash (pizza boxes, papers, etc) on the tables near the elevator. Sad... 3. Paper towels in the room are gone. Used to have very convenient paper towels rolls in the kitchen area.... Please bring back. 4. Coffee and Creamers - Used to have flavored creamers with the complimentary coffee in the lobby - those creamers were good 5. Flavored ice water - Watered down so much you would not even know there was any attempt at fruit flavoring. Sadly, we are moving on to try another option. The Springhill Suites has no parking fees and FREE breakfast for relatively the same rate (varies based on what day you book). We will stop by and say hi to Dennis and Maria (hoping they are still there) Lastly, it appears they promoted the Marketing lady to be the main manager at the property. She appears to be extremely overworked as we saw her there for 10 hour days multiple times during our stay. May have been an outlier, but I hope they pay her well.
We stayed at SPRINGHILL Suites for a wedding….. During a Hurricane!!! The staff amazing. The room clean and spacious. The complimentary breakfast perfect(scrambled eggs and bacon with cheese, spinach soufflé, waffles, oatmeal with all the toppings, and a variety of breads for toasting and fruit for eating. The staff went out of their way to make our time memorable, they remembered our names always smiling and willing to assist. The maintenance man even saved the day when he removed a retail stores, magnetic tag that was overlooked on purchased clothing to be worn at the wedding!!!! A big shout out to Jinez, who worked the desk….. thank you for all you do, we appreciated your kindness welcoming smile and your assistance.
Summary: We enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay there again. Context: I am a Hilton Honors member, stayed during hurricane Idalia and had a small dog. Staff: Check-in staff were very friendly and helpful. They had house-cleaning staff on duty even with the hurricane. Within an hour of checking-in they followed up to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. Facility: The hotel was in good shape, had a food serving area and combination dining area and living-room. It had a good gym with equipment in good shape. Each floor had washer/dryer sets that were reasonably priced at $1 or $1.50 per batch. Room: The room was clean, did not look worn and there were no smells. The TV was large and leveraged DirectTV for cable channels. The bed was a little firm but the pillows were soft. The bathroom was clean, tub and toilets were clean, no dripping faucets, plenty of towels and toiletries. It had a “larger” dorm-size 3.5-ish cubic-foot refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. There was a hotel style window HVAC with wall thermostat that had no limits on low temp setting. There were also several USB charging ports. Location: The hotel is very close to World Market, Publix and Target; as well as several restaurants. Breakfast: Even though there was a hurricane passing by, there was a plentiful breakfast with scrambled eggs, smoked sausage, roasted potato wedges, several cereals, pastries, bananas, apples, waffles…..
