This hotel was sold during the pandemic and the new owners are doing a great job slowing repairing the grounds. Beautiful gardens and the rooms, dishing and reception areas are all lovely. We booked this place because it has a pool. Well the pool was broken and clearly a long way down the list of things to fix. During this COVID times I can’t imagine guest numbers are huge and we appreciated the really friendly staff and what they have fixed up so far.
There are several dogs and cats at the hotel, which our kids loved. I did not like the big Labrador drooling on my leg during our dinner and asked the staff to remove it from the dining room. One of the other dogs also entered our room uninvited. We have a dog back home in Beijing and are dog people, but I suggest to the management of this hotel that they keep their pets away from the dining and guests areas.
The food was nicely present and we had one of the few genuinely good coffees here. That coffee was a highlight of the week. Staff spoke excellent English and were always welcoming and helpful.
I recommend this hotel and suggest you keep in mind that older reviews are not reflective of current owners and that facilities do not appear as pictured.
