Just returned from a 3 night stay in the Great Southern Hotel Killarney, arriving New Year’s Eve. We were returning guests from many years ago so we weren’t sure what to expect. My husband was celebrating a December birthday and we were delighted to be given a beautiful room 380. A bottle of bubbly and some treats along with a personalised card were waiting in our beautiful room, which had its own fabulous Christmas tree, and gorgeous views. New years was amazing with live music following a lovely meal. It was a pleasure to see the old out and the new in at this lovely venue. Breakfast is fabulous with something delicious for everyone’s taste. The highlight for me was the professionalism of all the staff. From the staff at breakfast, the staff at dinner, the barman, the waiting staff, the hard working staff looking after the rooms, the staff at the leisure centre and the friendly welcoming staff at the entrance, and reception. A great team all working together to make guests happy. Nothing was to much trouble and the hotel was full including 2 weddings but the staff were amazing and did a great job. Overall our stay at the Great Southern Hotel was a very enjoyable experience. Anna & Noel Egan.
Lovely hotel, stayed a night in Jan. Room very comfortable, nice leisure centre, great dinner ( sirloin was a bit tough but tasted lovely, just a bad cut of meat I think ) nice breakfast in morning. Man serving breakfast buffet was a stand out, while you expect the receptionists to be friendly, it’s always great to see be back of house team so chatty , great way to start the day!
Highly recommend here. Check-in was quick & informative (Loui). The room was spotless with toilitries, tea, coffee, iron, hairdryer, jacozzi bath. etc. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious, a huge variety of options! The staff were attentive, and the dining area is comfortable and cosy. We dined in the bar, and our group were happy with their choice. I had the fish and chips, and it was delicious. All staff from reception to housekeeping were friendly, professional & courteous. Some of our group did use the leasure centre & were very complimentary about it.
We have been traveling in Ireland for a week and this is by far the best hotel. The town of Killarney is amazing and this hotel is perfect. The staff at the registration desk and specifically a young man named Miguel went above and beyond to make sure our stay was nothing short of perfect. I highly recommend anyone to stay here!
Bed very comfortable, Good choice of Channels on TV, Great Shower. Nice Bar. Good location-very near the Town centre. Very Clean. I have just Three little faults- 1-The blind was just a little small for the window so blackout blinds would be advised. 2-I was woke on two occasions by Other Guests talking very loud in the hallway in the early hours of the morning. 3-Bed too close to wall so had trouble getting in and out of it.
Great place for dinner. Wonderful ambience, delicious food and the best service especially by Nina. She took wonderful care of us. Highly recommend for a lovely night out. If you order the roast it’s huge but all reasonably priced. Also excellent location to the centre.
The Arbutus is a charming and quaint hotel with fantastic amenities and staff. Our room was so spacious with a king bed, sleeper sofa, two winged chairs and a writing desk. The bathroom was quite large with a separate stall shower and bath tub. Everything was immaculate. The front desk staff were so friendly and helpful and made us feel so welcome. Kudos to Michelle and Ina and Emer and a great big thank you as well. Breakfast each day was a delight as were the servers- a special shout out to Lisa and Valentina. The bar was a wonderful perk - a spot we frequented each evening for the warm ambiance and fantastic Irish music. My husband and I were elated to have stayed at the Arbutus during our first trip to the Emerald Isle. Its location was ideal. I would be remiss in not thanking Sean Buckley and his family for keeping this gem of a hotel the way it is - a hotel near and dear to his grandfather who established it all Those years ago.
TTourist51571740017We loved the whole experience. The whole place is spotless and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Well worth a visit I cannot say enough about the staff they are so professional and so friendly. We will definitely be back again.
This is a terrific hotel in a prime location for driving the Ring of Kerry and visiting attractions in Kenmare and Killarney. The hotel staff are uniformly friendly and helpful; the food and drink at the hotel are first rate (we ate one meal in the restaurant - evening and another in the bar - evening as well as breafkasts). We highly recommend this hotel!
Nnohassle1956Good and not so good. The location is nice outside of town. Plenty of free parking. Check in smooth with a friendly desk clerk. We were tired and had a bite to eat in the restaurant. Very nice. The food was good. Room was nice. Big tub and shower. We both took long baths after hiking 7 miles during the day. Wifi was fast and stayed constantly connected. They gave us a fan to move the air around. That was nice. The fan had a timer on it and would only stay on 2 hours at a time. Weird. The room had a single bed and a full bed. When we got in to bed we sunk into the middle. It was like sleeping in a hammock. My wife ditched me and went to the single bed. You could hear any noise from the other rooms and from the hallway. Bottom line not a good night's sleep. The breakfast in the morning was good. Killarney was booked the weekend we were there and we were only able to get 1 night at the Killarney oaks hotel. Turned out to be a blessing.
Excellent location. The room was very spacious with two beds which were very comfortable and the room temperature could be easily adjusted. Very clean bathroom and shower. The staff were efficient and friendly. I stay here on many occasions for work and I love the food especially the breakfast buffet, this hotel is one of my favourite hotels to stay in when I am working in the Kerry area. I would highly recommend it to anyone. There are shops a short walking distance from the hotel and the town centre is only a short drive or Taxi ride away. Well worth a visit and this hotel is exceptionally good value especially given the standard of the room and the excellent breakfast. Well done to all the staff for making it an enjoyable stay.
