While this place is technically a bed & breakfast, it was certainly appreciated that we were not forced to do bed-and-breakfast activities. In fact, we were not even asked to; the experience was more like staying in a hotel. The spa area was surprisingly charming, and the entire establishment was clean. It was a little bit difficult to navigate how to get in, which is just through the café doors in the front, and the only thing I would suggest, is to add mini fridges to the rooms.
This hotel was rated 4.5 on trip advisor. The same rating as island house, mission point, grand hotel etc. This rating is extremely inaccurate and will impact my trip advisor ratings in the future. I travel extensively and use trip, advisor for its recommendations. I will be skeptical in the future. The hotel is in need of a major renovation. The carpets are old and dirty. Our cottage view room with a view was a view only if you worked to move the door shade. The bathroom was extremely small and dated. Room amenities old and dated. Holes in wall, door was old with cracked wood. Getting up from one side of bed required ducking to not hit your head. TV small and old. No elevators and 4th floor room. Breakfast fruit was good but the rest of items were not tasty. Get a good breakfast at 1852 next door. Luggage procedure worked out ok but didn’t show up at ferry until boarding time. Very disconcerting and anxiety causing. For the same price look around you can get a good hotel with a view, porch, dining facilities, good location for the same or less expensive price. I trusted Trip advisor for their ranking and will not in the future based on this experience.
While on a recent trip I booked this motel because it advertised (2) Queen beds and a sofa bed. Upon arrival I found that the so called sofa bed was in fact a chair that flattened out into a platform. It was small and uncomfortable. I did not get a great night of sleep. If you need a room with three beds, I recommend you try some other place. The motel itself was otherwise fine.
