クウェタ サファリ キャンプ(Ikweta Safari Camp)

Lovely, well maintained camp right by the gate to Mera NP. Much more affordable than your average safari camp in Kenya, yet still feels intimate. The food was very nice, particularly we were blown away by the home grown salad!

We stayed at Ikweta Camp for our three-day safari of Meru and we had a very pleasant stay. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated and the camp is very quiet. The camp is also very close to the gate of the national park. I particularly enjoyed the food that they served. The set meals that they offered had better quality than buffet meals offered by many other safari camps in Kenya. I would also like to thank Peter, the manager, for helping us out and being so accommodating and patient when we had a problem with the travel company that arranged our tour. The warm hospitality of Ikweta Camp helped offset the unfortunate experience that we had with our tour company. All in all, I highly recommend Ikweta Safari Camp. Asante sana!

The place is great nd well located, right nexte door to the Meru National Park. The service is outstanding: flexible, tailor-made to adjust to your group and rythm. But on the top of that, the owners and staff's kindness and attentions will win you over!

Staff are really friendly and helpful - lots of very good, hearty food - lovely room (tent!) with comfy beds and privacy, and a cute swimming pool - good walk up Skull Hill with an Ikweta guide if you have time. If you haven't already sorted out your trip into Meru National Park, they can help you with guides and a driver....which I'd thoroughly recommend. Amazing eco-friendly safari camp only 5 minutes from breathtaking Meru national park. Luxurious tents for a fair prize. Very green compound, which is taken care of well. Cute cats deter rodents and snakes, feels safe even for an anxious person :-). Friendly and attentive staff, healthy home-grown food and on top of that a beautiful natural swimming pool! Would highly recommend this special place and definitely will be back.

The camp is situated just next to the Park making access easy. The luxury tents were very nice. The members of staff were exceedingly friendly and very very helpful. They even managed to pull of a birthday surprise and cake at short notice. The food was well prepared and very tasty. A very enjoyable experience for me

We had a great three-night stay at iKWETA, which allowed us easy access to explore Meru NP. The main park gate is a very short drive away - and the great thing is that you can leave and reenter the park without paying a second entrance fee while your first is still active. This made it easy to either pop back to iKWETA for lunch or ask them to pack a lunch to take with if we chose to spend the day in the park. Service was wonderful, tents were spacious, and the cats on the property provided endless amusement. Would highly recommend!

Fantastic camp, small, very close to the entrance of the national park, warm welcome and very affordable. Had a lovely cosy tent with a great veranda to relax on. Really appreciated the swimming pool which was refreshing. Enjoyed good meals in the restaurant. Would love to stay again. Good value for money and overall excellent quality. Ideal for explore Meru NP. Highly recommended.

I stayed at iKWETA Safari Camp in August 2023 with my young family and two friends from abroad. The tented rooms were well presented and felt private. The camp is in a convenient location to get to the National Park gate, and the manager organised a vehicle and guide to take us on game drives. Unfortunately, there were numerous disappointing aspects of our stay. To start, the food was basic and bland, and the selection of soft drinks was limited. The staff were inattentive, and we often saw them on their phones or watching TV (especially the manager) when we required serving. Prior to arrival we had agreed with the manager that the camp would provide a highchair. This was not provided, and he tried to suggest we had never asked. The shower was a cold dribble; not what you want after a day's game drive. It was noisy at night from a nearby village, the WIFI was slow and intermittent, and the pool looked dirty. Another negative was the cats. There were far too many, they made the camp smell, and they would not leave us alone at meals. We loved Meru National Park, but we will not be returning to iKWETA, and are suggesting others avoid this camp.
