Location/ stunning rural location set in very large grounds with I believe both a 9- and 18-hole golf course. About 10-minute drive from the main highway brings you to the entrance to the long private driveway through a manned security gate. Room/ nicely decorated and well-furnished large room, definitely has the ‘wow’ factor, nice sofa and good size balcony with 2 chairs and a table looking out over the pool, golf course, the stunning scenery and mountains beyond. Had the smallest safe I have ever seen in a hotel room and not particularly generous with the coffee sachets either. Breakfast/ served in the clubhouse which is a separate building. Takes about 2 or 3 minutes to walk from the back of the hotel, or you can take the longer scenic route by chauffeured golf buggy from the front of the hotel. Breakfast itself was American style and not a buffet, no doubt due to the very small number of guests. You get a piece of paper with about 15 items on it and you tick what you want. It all comes at the same time so if that’s not what you want, just ask for a new piece of paper every time you want something. The food at both breakfast and in the evening was of a very high standard. All the serviettes and crockery were logoed. General/ different parts of the hotel required different Wi-Fi codes which was rather frustrating. I got the impression that most people came here to play golf, not to stay, due to the distinct lack of guests. The course looked to be in good condition and well maintained although I didn’t actually play. Excellent outdoor pool with free towels and loungers. There is an enclosure where a group of reindeer live situated below the pool and before the course. It was hard to know if the sounds from that direction were from a male reindeer or a golfer after a hole in one. The grounds and buildings are massive and require an army of staff to maintain them. Where breakfast is served becomes a restaurant during the day. The menu is very large, the food very good and prices very reasonable. A room key, as opposed to a card, reflects the age of the hotel. 30-minute drive to the National Park. You drive past the Sir James Coffee Shop to and from the hotel, it might look empty, but isn’t, and is well worth checking out. Would I stay here again? Yes, if I was passing or wanted to stay in that area.

We (5) stayed at the hotel and played golf at Sir James. The hotel offered low price package for one night stay, breakfast, and one round of golf. The room was average. The breakfast was good. We were allowed to check out late at 2.00 PM. The golf course was challenging but not well maintained. The caddies were good.

On a bien appréciés.
