The hotel is new so everything is fresh and modern. Having to climb over your partner to get in and out of the bed was definitely a negative. The apartment was comfortable as was the bed. We were given the disabled room which for us lacked essentials - as in a place for toiletries in the bathroom and drawers for your clothes. The gowns were a nice touch.
This is an old-fashioned pub but the rooms were very nice and clean. Albeit somewhat small. There is some noise from the pub downstairs, but it's not too bad and it finished long before I went to bed.
Although there's no reception, you can just check in from the bottle shop.
The hotel is in a great location for shops, restaurants and cafes. It is a bit of distance from the centre of Newcastle but it's probably a busier area than the centre.
We will never book there again. After booking a Charlestown executive apartment 2 months in advance so our family from all over Queensland would be in the same location close to our son's party venue at Whitebridge, we were notified by a text with address and a code number for an apartment in Cardiff, as we got off our plane at 3:30pm on Thursday 13th April. The company didn't even call to say there was a problem. We called to say this wasn't where we'd booked and not a suitable arrangement but were told it was unavoidable. As it was 6 km further out than Charlestown, extra cost for taxi travel was incurred and our chance to get free transport with our family to and from Whitebridge wasn't an option as we were not in the same place. After terrible accommodation at Cardiff, with constant traffic noise, no lights on the high stairs, water running all over the bathroom from the shower and no coffee or sugar supplied, we cancelled the rest of our stay there. As there was no accommodation available at Charlestown on Friday night, we went elsewhere. We were then offered an available room for Saturday night, 15th, so we accepted that as we were close to the party venue and family as we'd planned. I enquired about a refund for the room that we cancelled on Friday night but was told that it wouldn't be refunded as we were offered a room at Cardiff, which wasn't where we'd booked in the first place. So, all said and done, don't expect to get a room where you book with this company and be prepared for sub-standard apartments and no service. Our family got their apartments but one of our daughters' apartments was filthy when she and her family arrived as it hadn't been cleaned and there were putrid baby's nappies still there. At 4:30pm they had to wait for a cleaner to come before they could move in. This fiasco cost us a heap more than it should have and we are very dissatisfied. Charlestown Executive Apartments showed very poor form and we didn't get what we booked or paid for.
ゲゲストAfter a tiring day of touring and driving, my husband and I were exhausted and ready to check into our hotel, only to find out we accidentally booked it the day before. We were warmly greeted by Jane, who immediately went to work to change things and get us a room. Jane was not only adorable, but super friendly, happy and it was obvious she loves her job and the people she works with. She showed us to our room which was even nicer in person than the pictures. Would HIGHLY recommend this hotel.
Vvdn-andyThe hotel's location was great for exploring Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and the Central Coast. It has a bar restaurant with good food and beer and great services. The only downside was it was undergoing renovations causing a little bit of inconvenience, but this is a good thing for the future anyway ;)
I stayed here for 2nights excellent customer service from the staff from check in to eating in the restaurant l had chicken Maryland well cooked by chef Joss who takes care with the way he presents his food masterfully cooked l was most impressed see by the photos all the staff take great pride in making sure all customers needs meet thankyou to all l will be back next month for a week
ゲゲストAfter a long drive from Canberra, check-in was well handled and we were allocated a ground floor room. Rooms in Ibis Budget hotels are very basic... Small TV, was basin in main room and shower and toilet in a very basic 'capsule' that is raised up so older people need to be careful getting in and out. Hotel is reasonably close to local shops, pubs and restaurants. We were told breakfast was available from 7am, but we waited until 7.15 and no-one appeared. So we left and were on our way again.
