I hate to leave a bad review, but I’d feel worse knowing somebody could be put in the same situation as I was - in an unclean room with nowhere else to go so last minute. I booked a room for 02/10 - 06/10 for work in Northampton. On arrival around 5pm, the car park was sketchy - you have to drive around the back of the hotel with no lights, on what can barely be called a road with such an uneven surface. Reception was fine; room was not. Lighter left on the floor either from previous guests or staff; hand prints on the mirrors, black mould up the wall right by the bed. Room not only absolutely freezing because of no double glazing on the windows but also incredibly loud given it was directly facing a main road which stayed loud all night. I was exhausted after work so took photographic evidence and went downstairs right away, feeling unsafe and very uncared for, asking if it was possible to be moved to another room. Man on reception said there were none tonight but could be done tomorrow if I came by.I reluctantly accepted but was visibly upset - I was not asked what was wrong, no apology was offered, and honestly it felt as though I was inconveniencing him by being there. I did not sleep that night. I left for work at 6:30, on passing in the morning seeing reception to be shuttered up. Packed my suitcase into the car ready for another room, partly also because I did not feel it would be secured in the current one. After work I went straight to reception only to be told the room couldn’t be sorted as it had to be done in the morning; something I hadn’t been informed of the evening before. I explained I could not possibly come by in the morning given my works schedule; met with a shrug from the same man (I only ever saw him at reception) and an incredibly rude, blunt attitude. I tried saying the room was unacceptable and the reasons why to be met with pointed refusal to acknowledge the issues. I had to check out and find somewhere else for the night. Upon asking about how I would go about claiming my stay back given I would not be there past that first night, he shrugged again and told me I would have to go through ***********. but The Langham have ignored emails from them trying to resolve this. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Dirty,unhygienic room. Constantly drowned with the noise of traffic, freezing cold. Do not waste your money here. Plenty of nicer hotels with much more pleasant owners.
