Down a long drive, not for the faint hearted, we arrived at Goatfell, a true home from home style hotel, with only 4 guest rooms. Our room was beautiful and included a lovely cot for our 9 month daughter. The location is quite remote so we spent the 2 days walking and relaxing in the grounds, rather than driving reasonable distances to local activities. The food was incredible and offered a great selection of local delicacies as well as international dishes. We love the fact that lots of the vegetables and herbs were grown in their gardens. The staff were all wonderful, welcoming and very happy to help with any request… including washing numerous bottles for our daughter. We would certainly recommend Goatfell to anyone wanting a relaxing break surrounded by beautiful scenery.
This is an old tea factory renovated into a hotel. You have to drive about 5km up a narrow mountain road which can be challenging for inexperienced drivers. It worth it for the views . Reception staff and security were very helpful. We stayed in ground floor rooms and the views were wonderful and we liked the decor. The rooms were very clean and good size. Meals are served alacarte with choices and 3/4 courses and the food was good. They gave us an educational tour of the tea making process which we really liked and was informative. Cons : -Beware there are no actual walls just separators between rooms so there is ABSOLUTELY no soundproofing. Conversations could be heard clearly from the next room. - No TV and poor lighting - They kept asking us the exact times we were supposed to arrive at the hotel and when we were coming for meals which was a bit of a hassle. - Portion sizes were not adequate for breakfast, did not refill bread basket and our server was not very attentive or helpful. Overall good hotel for a peaceful stay and beautiful views, but considering the cons it’s a bit overpriced.
JJM_9This is a very warm and lovely place to stay in Juwara Eliya. Tasha is very good in English and you could easily communicate with the family in English. The price is very good. Hot water provided. The flowers in garden are great.
AAbi8720Our experience at Scottish planters was incredible.. we stayed there for 2 nights and it was never enough.. it's a lovely bungalow situated in the middle of a tea estate with marvellous views. On top of it we also got a free upgrade to the steuart suite..we were staying on a half board basis and the food was really amazing, Bandula the chef was at his best in the taste and the presentation of the food..my 3 and 8 year olds really loved it..we had western dishes most of the time and requested for a proper Sri Lanka breakfast on the last day and it was truly delicious.. Manusanka and his team were really helpful from the beginning, even before we arrived at the bungalow and made sure that we were comfortable during our stay there and did everything they could to keep the kids occupied and happy.. the best thing about the staff there is they are really taking efforts to make their guests happy.. If you want to take a break from the busy life and stay in a quieter place I would strongly recommend Scottish planters..it's really good for family getaways where you can book the whole bungalow and relax..will definitely come again..
Villa Tea is a cute English-style bed and breakfast type accommodation. Would be a little far to walk to the main city center but easy to organize a driver or tuk tuk. The hotel offered us tea and cookies on arrival. Bathrooms stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash (a pleasant rarity from our experience throughout SL). Quiet location overlooking some tea fields, where you can see tea harvesting in action. Breakfast was a typical English breakfast. Would recommend to friends, families, and couples traveling.
Huge hotel with lot of space in the lobby Decor is tastefully done.. Food was really good with a wide spread Foyer on every floor with comfortable chairs to sit and have a conversation Clean and Well maintained.. Truly Luxurious Huge dining section with helpful staff
The family who runs the hotel is very friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Wifi is available on every floor. The absolute Highlight is the Breakfast room: you sit on top of the building with windows to every side and you have a fantastic view on the mountains.
