ムーン ゲート ヴィラ(Moon Gate Villa)

Our 2 nights at Moongate were glorious! Lionel & Rob are super hosts. Our room ( writer's retreat ) was beautiful and cared for to the finest details. Linen, supplies, cleanliness, decoration, atmosphere etc were 11 out of 10 We really felt 'true guests' here. We were spoilt with a delicious breakfast each morning : tailored to our personal choices. We were also given great tips where to dine and where to go during the day. Thank you for a beautiful stay. We had stayed in the cottage back in December 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay. We have just returned for a short stay in NZ as part of a longer trip. As our visit to Bay of Islands had been brief before we returned and stayed in one of the main rooms at Moon Gate Villa for four nights. The rooms are fantastic with lovely little touches like wonderful chocolates at night! The bed was really comfortable with excellent linen. Lovely chairs to relax in and a private outside area which was great to come back to and unwind. There is a fridge and microwave in the room as well. It was kept spotlessly clean during our four night stay. The breakfast as described by others was superb! A wide spread of fruit and cereal together with a wide choice of cooked breakfast which is freshly prepared. The hosts really are attentive and make you feel very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble and good advice about where to eat was very helpful. I haven’t even mentioned the incredibly tasty banana muffins that Lionel made. It’s a long way to travel from the UK but could we manage a third trip …

Moon Gate Villa was our first stop on our New Zealand trip! And what a stop it was! Not only is Moon Gate Villa a gorgeous property, it has the most incredible hosts, Rob and Lionel. We were greeted with a delicious glass of New Zealand wine and then were showed to our beautiful suite. Lionel creates the most delicious breakfast for his guests that includes several choices. We highly recommend Moon Gate Villa as a wonderful place to stay when you are in the Bay of Islands.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this wonderful villa. The setting was stunning, the room extremely comfortable, the breakfasts suberb and the hosts friendly and welcoming. We were also grateful for Rob's local knowledge and advice, which capped off a first class trip to this beautiful part of New Zealand.

Everything was at least perfect, from welcome to goodbye. We loved the room, the property, apero (before dinner drinks) in our private garden. We already miss breakfast with Lionel... eggs benedict and the omelette get big 5 stars. Excellent location to visit the area.

Kia Ora tatou Hello everyone, Tena koutou Greetings 👋 to you Nau mai, haere mai Welcome 🙏 For us, staying at 🌙 Moongate Villa, is like being on vacation and at home 🏡 at the same time, I can wake up to the trill of the tui and I know I’m in Aotearoa New Zealand. Seeing Robs cheerful countenance at the beautifully arranged breakfast 🍳 table and hearing about Northlands -Tai tokerau notable historic places and trails to visit. Savouring every morsel of Lionel’s cordon Bleu home 🏡 cooking 🥘, knowing his Maori heritage brings a uniquely kiwi experience to our stay, unlike anywhere else in the world 🌎. Moongate is quality accommodation, quiet, spotlessly clean 🧼 and extremely comfortable, I’m already planning our next booking!

Our experience with ‘Moongate villa’ was disappointing because on our 2nd day, some building works began next door which woke us up at 8.00am in the morning and the cement pouring and flattening machines started working. It’s no exaggeration to say that the whole of our building vibrated to the machines being used. As for the noise all of this created, it was horrendous! The owners of ‘Moongate villa’ agreed to give us 1 x night free of charge. Please confirm that you can refund us this back into my card by which I paid. Kind regards Sue Haugh

Moon Gate Villa is perfect in every way. The setting is tranquil and welcoming set in beautiful gardens. The hosts are warm and welcoming and happy to share their local knowledge of what to see and do and the best places to eat. We stayed in Orchard cottage which was comfortable, charming and delightful we were sorry to leave.

Excellent Suite and bathroom, excellent service and absolutely excellent cooked breakfast with eggs of your individuel Choice, pancakes, fresh fruits and juices, homemade cerials. Super!! We loved staying at the exorbitant location and recommend it!
