Stayed March 16-23rd, clean , modern hotel, towels changed everyday, cleanliness second to none , staff unbelievable, friendly, helpful, always say hello, great bar area really relaxing, pool is small but went in Spring so was perfect and quiet, the village is quite spread out but this adds to the charm and beauty of this whole area , approximately 10-15 minutes walk to centre of the village with bars/ cafes / shops along the way. Breakfast had everything you need always fresh and plentiful, cereals, pastries, homemade jams , pastel de nata too ! Fabulous Velamar can’t wait to return ❤️

This was our first visit to this hotel and is definitely not going to be our last. The hotel has had a recent refirb and the whole place is ultra modern. The food for breakfast is extensive, with both hot and cold food. my wife who is gluton intolerant asked a manager if gluton free bread was available and was told to wait a minute, she returned with sliced bread for toast and a chocolate muffin (how was that for service). It is the same for all the staff, they cannot do enough for you, and are always smiling.

This was our second visit to the Velamar having stayed in the area many times previously in other hotels / apartments. This happens to be one of the best for friendliness of staff and other similar guests we have been to so far. We had a roadside balcony room which despite seemingly being unattractive and noisy it wasn't the case. We didn't have a balcony last time but the holiday was definitely enhanced by having one. Breakfast was included for us and happened to be just the job. We used to sit mainly on the outside terrace which occasionally had a whiff from the local drains. Our room was cleaned daily or you could miss a day and gain a 5eu voucher to be used at the bar. The reception, bar and breakfast staff were exceptionally friendly, funny and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is located very close to our favourite eating and drinking places so this was another big plus. Hopefully we will return

Been to this hotel many times - love it.

This was our 3rd time at the Velamar it’s so nice to just chill! The hotel is spotless and the staff are all very welcoming and helpful from checkin to checkout and anything inbetween. Olhos De Aqua is a quiet spread out resort with beautiful beaches and good value restaurants. If you’re looking for something a bit more lively maybe Albufeira would be best as it’s near by! If you like a quiet resort with maybe a bit more lively entertainment now and again but not all off your holiday then Albufeira would be an option and is in easy reached either by local bus or by Uber which is widely available in the area! We would definitely recommend the Velamar hotel and we will definitely be back for our 4th visit in the future!

The hotel staff were so welcoming and check in was so easy. The room was just like the brochure, bright and clean. We took advantage of the €5 voucher for opting not have your room cleaned but we aware you can only use one per transaction when cashing in. The mini bar is pretty pricey but convenient. We had a kettle but no coffee or tea. The balcony faced on to the street but there was minimal noise. The bathroom was a good size.

This small hotel has everything you need for a short stay. We stayed 5 nights and were pleased with the services offered for a 3* budget hotel. The hotel itself is spotless for the most part. Didn't use the pool, so can't comment there. Even the public toilets near reception were spotless. The bedrooms were spacious and a safe is provided. The beds are huge and very comfy. Large walk in shower in the bathroom. Towels were changed regularly but the bedding was not changed in 5 days. This was no real issue and we did elect to go green and have no housekeeping for 2 out of our 5 day stay and received x2 €5 vouchers to use in the bar, which is a nice touch. We were on the ground floor with a large balcony. The only thing with a ground floor room is that the noise from the bar area can sometimes be heard in your room when you are trying to sleep! The only disappointment for me was the decor in the room. At 1st glance I thought the skirting boards were filthy but decided they were perhaps meant to have a 'distressed' look; not pleasing on the eye at all. Also previous scuff marks on the walls had been touched up here and there and the slight difference in paint colour stood out. These skirting boards really need to be painted white! We also had 3 long hairs in our bathroom (I assume from the cleaning staff) as my husband and I both have short hair!) The breakfast dining area on the top floor has plenty of choice of hot and cold food with fresh fruit juices and an excellent coffee machine. The pastel de nata's are the best I have ever tasted and I've been to the Algarve many times. The dining area is kept absolutely spotless; I was very impressed. There is a lovely outside dining area, however, there can be unpleasant drain smells out there. We also had a bit of a drain smell in our shower room too! The staff at Velamar are a credit to the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel however, it is a good 20 minute walk into Olhos itself where a lot of the restaurants are by the beach; not great if you have mobility issues. There are, however, bars and restaurants nearby too and you can always grab an Uber or the hotel will phone a taxi for you.

This was our second visit to the Velamar this year and while we were, on the whole, happy, we did detect some changes. we have stayed in a deluxe rook with a balcony overlooking the road (not as bad as it sounds as the noise insulation is excellent, and you can watch the world go by), and this time, in one of their two suites on the 3rd floor as they only had these available when we booked. The suite did have a very large sitting room and that was nice but we did miss the balcony and felt it really wasn't worth the extra per night for the suite. The pool is cleaned daily and the man who does this checks the PH level, etc. but the pool area was cleaned less this time and the sun beds looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in some time. The staining from so many feet is not pleasant. The pool bar, for drinks, is value for money with a large beer at €3.00 but the food portion sizes appear to have reduced significantly over the summer and there is better value snacks to be found close by. Our suite has a Nespresso pod machine with 4 complimentary pods and a note stating additional pods could be purchased at reception. Unfortunately, no one had told reception this and they did not have any to purchase meaning we had to go to the local supermarket ()a 5 minutes stroll, so no real hardship). The breakfast is very good with plenty of choice from cereals, pastries and fruit, through cold meat and cheese and cooked bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs with a toast machine. The one thing that hasn't changed is the staff who were, without exception, friendly and welcoming. Will we be back - probably as Olhos has everything we need for a relaxing week or so with the beach at Olhos being a gentle 25 minute stroll (downhill - coming back is slightly more hard work, especially if not is warm (31C when we were there). Albufeira is a short (20 minute) taxi ride away with Uber charging around d there €5-6 range and regular taxis booked via reception, a little bit more. We arranged our own transfer from Faro airport for €80 return but the hotel can also arrange transfers for slightly more.
