We’ve just got back from a week at the Princess Yaiza - our first visit to Lanzarote. Overall a great week away, but definitely not the best 5 star hotel I’ve stayed in. The hotel is in a lovely location, right on the beach and close to the marina and restaurants. We actually found it very windy within the hotel complex - a lot more windy than outside so it felt colder at times especially if the weather was overcast. The hotel does say that the pools are heated however they still felt relatively cold and a lot of people weren’t in them until afternoon- particularly on the days when it wasn’t warmer till 3ish. The children’s facilities are great. Our 3 year old loved the soft play and the parks in Kikoland and the staff were very friendly and welcoming! We also loved size of the rooms we just had a standard suite but felt we had a lot of room for the 3 of us with the lounge area being separate and nice size terrace. Food I would say was pretty average. Breakfast was fine; lots of choice. Evening buffet wasn’t too bad but I found options for children quite limited - mainly just pizza chips chicken nuggets etc. we did the teppanyaki restaurant which was good & would recommend doing the a la cartes over the buffet although an extra charge even if half board!

We have just returned from a 10 day family holiday at dreams. We had a room overlooking the kids slide pool and stayed on an All Inclusive basis. The hotel is stunning and is refurbished to a very high standard. The lobby and communal areas are beautiful & have a very luxurious feel. Our room was perfect for us - clean & comfortable. Rooms are cleaned daily to a good standard and the mini bar is replenished with drinks daily. The beds and linens are very comfortable - we slept really well our entire trip. Small gripe we weren’t given towels 2 days but we were able to order them on the app to be delivered to our room. The food in the hotel does vary in terms of quality. Breakfast in the world cafe is great - plenty of options to choose from and generally something for everyone. To be honest I can’t really say the same about lunch and dinner in the buffet, we only had dinner once and lunch once, and neither time were we impressed much. The coco cafe is a lovely alternative if you don’t mind a lighter lunch or some cake/coffee instead. They do a great caramel frappe and they also have some really yummy ice creams - our daughter loved it there. The A La Carte restaurants are much better , although again standards vary. Our favourite was Portofino closely followed by The Bluewater Grill. The asparagus & Iberian ham soup is gorgeous! Sabor had great starters and desserts but the mains were a little hit & miss. Himitsu was a bit of a let down for us. We stayed at Dreams in the Caribbean and Himitsu was our favourite, however my husband had a green seafood curry that was neither green nor curry. He said it was like drinking a salty soup. The chocolate dessert again wasn’t great, not a 5* offering. My main feedback or hopefully constructive criticism would be lack of consistency. I ordered the same dish two nights in a row - first night amazing - second night just ok. We also had a few occasions where we ordered the same thing but they came out looking different. Or dishes advertised as containing certain ingredients but arriving without. If things could just be a bit more consistent it would really improve the experience. One of my favourite things about the hotel is the staff. I’ve got to say that whilst there were times I could see that they need more, the ones that are there are incredibly hard working, passionate and professional. We were treated like family from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. I’d like to give a special mention to Maria & Sarah at the kids club who were great with our little girl. Victoria at the Marlin bar who helped me practice my Spanish - she’s a gem! Hugo & Denisa on the entertainment team - so much fun and laughter had with these two. And in the restaurants Aaron, Gorka & Marcos always made us feel so welcome and taken care of. And of course Daniel - every hotel should have a Daniel he is just so lovely and makes your guest experience very special. Our daughter was delighted every time she saw him. O

Positives - Gorgeous pools with plenty of sun beds no need to wake up early and reserve, the beds at top in middle of the pool are great very comfy. Aqua fit was fun the lady instructing it was lovely. Bar in hotel was nice better cocktails than pool bar. Nice spacious rooms I liked that it was little villas which meant no noise from other guests. Room was clean. Entertainment was good for children. Was aloud to keep our Allinclusive wrist bands on after checkout untill we went. Lots of seats in bar area and outside. Grounds are well maintained. Animation team were good - Lots of toddlers and little children having lots of fun around the pool. Negative - restaurant is not appropriately staffed we went a few evening/ lunches with no drink due to it being table service for drinks, asked to be served and waiter not had time to come back. All waiters seemed very rushed of there feet. Also tables aren’t cleaned and re made quickly enough so we had to ask for a table to be made most evenings and then they were remade with no cutlery. The Pool bars pina coloda is not a pina coloda just tasted like a sour slush unfortunately. Lots of ques at the bars which resulted in us going out most evenings. Lack of entertainment for adults. Upon checkout we asked to leave our luggage in the luggage room we were told we aren’t aloud due to it only being for check in guests!! We were told we had to leave them in the open infront of reception, anyone had access to the bags and luggage. Despite expressing our worries and the luggage room being empty we were still told NO! I went back to get something out my bag and nobody looked or questioned if it was my bag I could have been anyone!! We had to keep our passports and documents in our beach bag and watch them all day at the pool and making sure they didn’t get wet. I found this very disappointing even 3 star hotels have luggage rooms for all customers. I’m sure when somebody’s items get stolen this will soon be changed… Overall 3* hotel due to service and food
