RAAS チャトラサガル(Mr & MRS Smith Raas Chhatrasagar)

We recently stayed at Raas Chhatrasagar as part of our honeymoon and can easily say it was one of the highlights of the trip. It is a truly magical place. The location itself is stunning, so so peaceful - especially if you’re incorporating a stay in between city sightseeing. The wildlife and wildlife activities - we did the early morning nature walk and the sunset birdwatching boat trip - are great. The in-hotel naturalist is so knowledgeable and it was great to see antelope, hogs, jackals, eagles and ***y ***y ***y other birds up close. We also loved the tour of the kitchen garden. The rooms themselves are very luxurious and spacious, the large terrace overlooking sunrise on the lake (and bath with the same view) is a nice touch. Communal areas, including a gorgeous infinity pool and restaurant area are also luxe and understated, in keeping with the environment. The food was the best hotel food we’ve ever had, which is great as the only option is to eat at the hotel. The Indian breakfast options were standout, as was an amazing veggie thali that we had. We would also recommend the sundowner drinks at the pop-up lakeside bar, a really nice but simple touch. Most of all the staff make the experience. They are friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and ensure the hotel delivers a truly five star service, without ever feeling contrived or OTT. Our only advice would be to fly into Jodphur versus Jaipur, as the drive from Jaipur is long and quite stressful. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this as must do R&R if you’re planning a trip to Rajasthan.

This was the most breathtaking & beautiful hotel to stay in away from the hustle & bustle of the big cities. The staff were fantastic. The rooms, designed to look like ‘tents’ inside, were exquisite. A bath with the view of the lake was a winner. Stunning! Stunning!

This place is really special, and 1 night is definitely not long enough. We arrived late in the afternoon to a warm welcome and a refreshing drink on the deck - the views are breathtaking. The lodges are so pretty, embroidered with the birds found on the reservoir with sequins and a skylight to the stars. Even the bath boasts the same mesmerising views. We went for a walk for sundowners with a guide, learning about the wildlife & conservation, and were rewarded with a stunning sunset. The food at RAAS was the best we had in India, as was the service. Attentive yet laidback, the team are all really kind and add to the ambience. I set my alarm for sunrise and was not disappointed, enjoying a coffee as the sky turned pink. A beautiful oasis after the excitement of the cities. We recently completed the RAAS "hopper" and stayed in 4 of their properties (Chhatrasagar/Jaipur/Udapuir/Jodhpur) and loved the experience. The properties are all stunning in different ways (our fave was Chhatrasagar). Food very good. But more than than, the staff at each location were terrific: professional, friendly, helpful. And a specific shout out to the driver who took us between each of the properties-- a great driver and lovely ***: VJ (sp?). Great experience!

An off the beaten path oasis at the edge of a lake. This is a finely appointed lodge-like retreat with great food from their own gardens. All 14 rooms overlook the lake facing east for spectacular sunrises. The staff are incredibly friendly and sweet.

Where to begin……. A serene spot in what is other a chaotic part of the world. If you like tranquility and nature but with a luxurious feel then, this is the place for you. Approx. 4 hours from Jaipur and 2 hours from Jodhpur, a stop between these majestic cities is a great idea (or even a longer stay if you prefer). Perched upon a dam the property is stylish with the most glamorous camp facilities you will come across. A superb yet unique place in the RAAS collection. The ‘tents’ are unworldly with sky lights, bathtubs and sequinned birds forming part of the fixtures/furnishings. The team are knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. If you are savouring the local cuisine it is superb! Ask for the recipes 😉. You can arrange a day trip to Jodhpur with the team being most helpful in planning this. Activities include walks, safari jeep, boat rides, swims in a heated pool, tennis courts and an organic garden tour. If you want to chill then, a trip to the rooftop spa is a must. Well worth a visit if you are looking for something slightly unique in a beautiful part of the world. Aneeta

My husband & I recently stayed here as part of our honeymoon trip round Rajasthan. This was probably our best stop so far. I could not fault anything - the hospitality, the accommodation and the food were all absolutely incredible. The views were stunning - we went on a boat trip at sunset which was a beautiful experience.

What an incredibly peaceful and beautiful place to visit, really in the countryside of Rajasthan and far away from the noise and mayhem of the big cities. We had fantastic service from Chenden who was working in the restaurant and looked after us for several of our meals - we were on a fully inclusive deal to we definitely ate very well. The tented room is very comfortable with a good terrace and a lovely view over the lake - the public restaurant/ bar is also extremely comfortable. The pool was not attended when we were there, but it was a very quite time of the year so might be different in peak season. The major problem that we had with this property is that we didn’t feel that there was very much to do if you are not there in peak bird watching season - we were there in April and did a bird watching tour on the lake, but we were pretty disappointed with the lack of variety that we saw, there was nothing special. And then during the day we didn’t feel like there was much more to see. We did a cooking class one day, which was good and the English speaking chef that looked after us was amazing, but otherwise…. So this is a lovely place to visit, but choose your timing wisely.

Very peaceful setting on a beautiful lake with far reaching views. The rooms are beautifully decorated and have private terrace area. The pool area is great and the gardens( full of lovely veg!) are worth a visit. The food is the best we have eaten in India and we look forward to returning
