· La ubicación es inmejorable, cerca del bus que va al aeropuerto, al lado del centro , está muy bien , tiene dos terrazas, super divinas, tienes agua, café y té. También tienes neveras para guardar tus cosas. Una Habitación muy amplia y comodisima. Un detalle, puedes lavar alguna ropa, que cuando llevas muchos dias siempre necesitas algo , Lo recomiendo. We were lucky to stay in this hotel for three nights and could highly recommend it. The room we had was with the direct view on the main square. That is, just a couple of steps away from the Cathedral. The room and the whole hotel felt very new and modern, with great isolation and very clean. The breakfast was standard, but fresh and very affordable (9 euros/person). If you’re staying in Santiago de Compostela - look no further!

Cute, charming property, however the service was HORRIBLE. The owner even screamed at me! We were a group of 12 people walking the Camino. The first person of my group arrived by herself, and they didn’t want to send her a taxi as it was promised on the reservation. They said that they don’t send taxis for just one passenger, and this client Sofia, had to wait two hours for her parents to join her, and then, the hotel sent the taxi. She was by herself two hours in a restaurant without knowing what to do. The booking company never informed us that in order to receive a taxi a minimum of guests was required. The waiter at the restaurant at dinner times was distracted, mixing orders, and trying to convince one of my clients that he can’t take a Martini and a glass of wine at the same time! One or the other! Who cares! If the client pays for both drinks, the waiter is nobody to be judging a client’s drinking behavior. One of the guests requested salt three times for French fries, with no results. He finally went to another table to ask other hotel guests for the salt they had in their table. And I can continue for hours describing the lack of professionalism in this place. We are all Spanish speaking, therefore no language barrier. The owner, as I said, he was very arrogant and uneducated. I was talking to him, standing by his table, while he was eating cheese and bread. He never stopped eating and/or invited me to the table, and/or standing so he can be talking to me at the same physical level (basic rules of education); I addressed the taxi situation in addition to the fact that they left my luggage into another client’s room, making this totally inappropriate for them and for me. Can you imagine if there was something missing from our suitcase? Who is responsible? Well, this man said that it was this client’s fault to “accept” these suitcases into their room. Unbelievable!! He was one of these persons “My way or the highway.” Rooms have no AC, no elevator, and no phones! I had one towel only for two guests, and when I was in the shower, I noticed it and there was no phone to call the receptionist. The shower gel dispenser was empty. The room was not clean. When I addressed these issues to the lady in the morning at checkout (I am suspicious that she was his wife) she just said “Vale” (Ok) No apologies, she was not surprised, and she mentioned that if I wanted another towel, I should have used my cellular. I replied that making an international phone call to request a towel was totally unthinkable. Last, we were “lucky” to have the owner driving us back to the Camino. He never opened us the door, or the trunk; never helped with our luggage; he was comfortable seated by the wheel all the time. And he drove us super-fast to intimidate us. Terrible! Stay away from this place.

However, this has to be said if only for the hotel to improve their service and/or re-evaluate their culture. I was excited that this hotel was a Melia hotel because we've stayed in Melia hotels in Spain before and were very happy with our experience. Here is one beautiful, modern hotel that we looked forward to staying in especially after our Camino Walk. I checked in our group of 9 ahead of the others and was efficiently attended to by Pilar and Lourdes at the Front Desk. The hotel offered a lovely breakfast spread. That's where all the positives stop, I'm afraid. That night, we booked for a late dinner to celebrate my son's birthday and the end of a tiring Camino Walk. While seated at the long table in front of the bar, we were subjected to very rude treatment by the waitress named Marta. When one of our companions asked for an extra soup bowl, she said it was impossible. To give her the benefit of the doubt in case there was a misunderstanding in language differences, my friend asked our Spanish tour escort to ask the waitress for our bowl. The next thing we saw was our tour escort being rudely treated by the waitress speaking to our tour escort at the bar, telling him off. We understand some Spanish but what we saw from the body language and our tour escort backing away from the wait staff spoke volumes. He was being harassed by the wait staff. All we asked was for our tour escort to ask our waitress, Marta, in Spanish for an extra soup bowl. And we saw very aggressive behavior directed at our tour escort. She handed our tour escort a sauce dish, not a soup bowl, that's how offensive she was. When he told Marta that he wanted to deal with another waiter Christian (the other wait staff who was also there with Marta) told him, pointing at Marta, ”she's the boss”. Where was customer care in this scenario? If Marta refused to attend to our needs, why couldn't Christian attend to us? Two of us went up to the bar to talk to Marta and Christian when we saw what was going on. When I asked her what her problem was, Marta glared at me and said she didn't speak Spanish and went away. I took out my phone and typed on Google Translate: ”Be kind. You are in Customer Service. Where is your manager?” I showed it to Christian since Marta refused to deal with us. A bit later, Pilar from Front Desk came and talked to my friend and me. We told her that we didn't want trouble but that this massive, massive failure in customer service must be addressed. Pilar was very defensive of the wait staff but she did listen when we insisted. When we asked for a manager, or the Officer-In-Charge, we were told that there was no manager on hand. All the staff, all, covered for one another. It made us wonder about the culture of the company. To make things worst, 2 of our orders were not served and we were charged for the orders. It is a good
