On check in, we were told something was missing from the room and that the hotel was full and they didn’t know when more rooms would be available as they don’t know which will be clean, or even if there would be any rooms! Honestly the most absurd lie I’ve heard! Of course the hotel was not full and as a Hilton hotel surely there would be an itinerary of which rooms would be cleaned when! Ridiculous. We made a point of mentioning to the reception staff that we would like the room we had booked and paid for and would like to move as soon as our room was available. Nothing was arranged and we received zero communication from reception staff. Our room was directly above the 5th floor bar and on booking, we’d specifically requested for a quote room due to having a young child with us. The music was very loud and we could hear it in our room are into the night. This was mentioned a couple of times to reception staff, but again no improvements made. Very disappointed. A plus was that the breakfast staff were nice, and there was a good spread of food. We decided to check out a day early due to the poor service, and it was only on checking out that an alternative room magically appeared! Very convenient! Would not recommend to stay here to anyone! Avoid unless you want to be fobbed off!!!
Cleanest hotel I've stayed in Santo Domingo, best food and exceptional staff. I dropped my credit card down the lift shaft and Francesca had it back to me in 20 minutes. Ordered a burger medium and got a burger medium, something 1/2 the restraints in the US can't do. I'll stay no where else when I'm in the DR.

BBPMSThe experience in the restaurant and housekeeping was the best part of my experience at that hotel service was excellent they went above and beyond. However front desk, upper management horrible one of the worst experiences I’ve had in Santo Domingo, Had maintenance issues ask for assistance with these issues and they were put aside asked for upper management to help which was the manager or assistant manager at the hotel he refused to meet with me on seven locations. Had a representative of my company. Tried to meet with him and we had to wait two days and nothing. I have a whole list of problems I experience at this hotel. #1, Problem was, that front desk staff could not make decisions to keep customers happy everything had to go through the manager and the general manager. #2 I stayed at this hotel for eight days. I was celebrating buying a new business in Santa Domingo and my 60th birthday This was the second time I stayed at this hotel. #3 I asked for a management repeatedly, never had the opportunity to meet with the manager at demanding I speak with someone the general manager agreed to meet with me the last day and when she did, I spoke with her about all the problems that I had she said that she would get back with me That was June 18, 2024.. It’s now July 24 and I’m still waiting on the answer. #4 I’ve been in the hospitality industry, for 45 years as a director of engineering over several high end chain hotels I always known hotel so have been one of the best industries that it is in the world service countries in the US and outside of the US and Europe, Kuwait Iraq and Dubai and I never received any kind of treatment like this from upper management….. she never offered me a resolution to the issues that I have experienced for the entire stay. But most of all this is the part that bothered me the most doing check-in everything is in Spanish. It’s not broken down into any other language. I asked the GM, which was a young lady. Why is everything in Spanish? I don’t know how to read Spanish, but I have translators that would read it for me. She told me when she come to America United States of America. Everything is in English and that I should adjust. That is not something that you say to a customer I chose this hotel for location, convenience to my new business and for my future staff that is coming from the US. I would love for the owner of the hotel to respond or explain to me why is key members of his establishment or her establishment treating customers like this?.
PpengliyaoThis review is written 7 years later. Back in Jan 2017, I made the mistake of booking for the date of arrival. We had taken a red eye flight into Punta Cana and it was 100% my mistake that we did not actually have a -no, two -room(s) booked for ”the night before.” I still remember the great kindness we were shown by the late night/early morning hotel staff as they struggled to ready a room that was not-being-used because of shower repair issues. They changed sheets, found a roll-a-cot for our then 20-something year old daughter, and waived off all of our gratitude. And they totally moved us into the proper roomS as early as they could the next morning ... leaving us free to tourist as best as we could with our red-eye depleted energies. I am currently culling travel paper clutter, and revisiting memories. This is a fond one - my mistake was greeted with great humanity.
ゲゲストHotel Dona Elvira was recommended to my family who planned an overnight trip to see the sights of Santo Domingo’s colonial zone. This hotel did not disappoint. Aesthetically, it’s gorgeously historic. Its common area is open-air, covered and cooled by a magnificent mango tree with a pool in the middle (I’m not sure if the pool is meant for swimming, though it is clean and clear). Our room was large, very clean, air-conditioned, and well stocked with toiletries, towels, etc. Great, filling breakfast options are included in the room rate with a supper menu offered as well (not included in the rate). I found the staff to be VERY friendly, helpful, and accommodated some small changes to one of our room reservations without hesitation. We had a light, casual conversation with the owner during which he touched on the hotel’s history. I really do wish I could have spent more time in S.D. and taken in more of this quaint little boutique gem of a hotel.
Well, the hotel is not that bad that many reviews on ******* say. Of course, this is a cheap place, but everything is functional, the sheet are very white and so are the towels. You can find many hotels that are MUCH more expensive with grey and worn out bed sheets and towels. The towel I got even had Hotel Anabella logotype, which looked kind of fancy. A big drawback is the absence of windows. There are no rooms with windows in this hotel! It was a surprise for me. You can't tell time of the day when you are inside. It's hard to wake up in complete darkness. Another thing is complete absence of sound insulation. There was a door in my room to the next one and it had 2 cm opening, so I could literally hear my neighbour's breath at night. But it was no better for other sounds - I could clearly hear people talking in the lobby or watching something on their phones. People seldom use headphones in this country. But the place is really cheap. So, if you can stand out with the things above you can save some bucks.
IIndo_backpackerzPro: -safe area even at night, because just beside the militery area of the presidential palace, even at 10pm there is still a grocery open.
- Breakfast is simple but good enough: toast with cheese and ham, coffee and a boiled egg.
-Spacious and clean room, friendly staff, can refill drinking water.
-500m walking to the gate of the colonial area.
- Taxi stand is at the same street
- Nice, spacious outdoor, sitting area
- A personal fridge in the room
Cons:
-A bit noisy from the road/a bar until around midnight.
- Shower is not really hot (only slightly warm).
