When booking hotels in and around Scottsdale, there were many that had a lower rate. However, as a loyal Lifetime Marriott Platinum member, I chose brand loyalty being confident in the standards of they uphold. I certainly regret that decision. My recent stay fell well short of that expectation. Put simply, it was the worst Marriott I have ever stayed at. While the room has a nice view, it really needed major care. The pictures tell the story better than words. It felt like I was staying at a college dorm rather than at a Marriott branded hotel. You can see stains in the floor, missing panel, and a shower that needs to be redone, and a charging station that never met a duster. Be prepared for noise as well. You will actually be given earplugs so you can sleep! Another point of concern is that a two night stay does not allow for housekeeping. That’s a small detail I know, but again it just adds up. When paying almost $300.00 a night, I would expect a room and service that matches the cost. I emailed the general manager, Luis Galvan, detailing my concerns and explaining that I would check out early if I could. At check out the next day, he happened to be at the front desk. He blamed the condition of of the room on “faulty design” and unwillingness to purchase replacement parts because of renovations that will take place sometime in the summer. He had no answer for stained floors and other issues. For all the hassle, he granted me 8,000 Marriott points. That was hardly worth it and demonstrates how he is not very concerned about keeping customers happy, just keeping their money. Stay. Somewhere. Else.
