We had an issue with our house so we had to book late and check in late but the welcome we received and service delivered was second to none.. you must try the eggs Benedict and eggs royal as they are both fantastic. We will be back Thank you for the hospitality you showed us all

I stayed at the Queensmead to enable me to attend a nearby group Chris**as 3-day event, and couldn't have been treated better anywhere. Big thanks to the owner/managers for going the extra mile and then some.

It was the most relaxing holiday. From the warmest greetings from Simon and Samantha, who only took on the hotel in June. The room was warm and clean, and the breakfasts, to which there is a great choice, were fantastic. The hotel itself is ideally situated with only a 10 minute walk to the high street or the esplanade. We will return.

We have just had a really relaxing week at The Queensmead. Simon, Samantha and Yasmin are doing their u**ost to ensure every guest is happy , comfortable and starts their day with the best breakfast I’ve had for years. ( Laura and Yasmin served it with style !) My teens thoroughly enjoyed the very ‘swimmable’ pool nearly every day and my other half and I enjoyed the well stocked bar after many delicious meals in the town. Simon pours an amazing aperol spritz - highly recommended. We loved Shanklin and everything it has to offer. The Queensmead was our cherry on the top . Thank you

Great location close to the esplanade and town centre. Hotel owners, Simon and Sam, were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. They reopened the hotel in June after refurbishing the ground floor bar area and are planning to revamp the restaurant and rooms in the near future. Bar area was superb for a refreshing drink after a day out exploring. Our room was a bit dated but spotlessly clean with tea and coffee, flat screen TV and en suite shower. Although we had a bit of a wait to get cups, glasses and the order sorted out, breakfast arrived promptly and was delicious! Outdoor pool was a bit chilly despite being heated. I would like to have seen a bit more information, such as hotel info sheet advising pay as you go for drinks and breakfast and local sights pamphlets. All in all, we had a great stay, helpful service, lovely a**osphere and wish Simon and Sam success in their new business.

Been travelling to IOW for many years and never found a breakfast any better than Happy shopper style food. At last a breakfast with quality ingredients! Friendly welcome and great bar area. Wish the new owners well - a great start! Will certainly return. Wish I could give 6 stars!

Very clean, comfortable and welcoming hotel. Staff all very courteous and helpful. Will defo return and looking forward to seeing results when further renovation are carried out., Excellent breakfast. Good value.

Lovely hotel in a nice area near cliff path with easy access to the beach. Beautifully updated ground floor with a smart bar area. The decor of the rooms is currently being updated to match the downstairs area but despite this ours was comfortable and suitable for our needs. Bed was comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and of good quality. Nice swimming pool and pool area in a sheltered spot. Family owned,. all staff were friendly, approachable and keen to provide good service. Dog lovers, they were really good with our dog.

Agree with other comments that the new owners were very welcoming. The newly refurbished bar and reception area was of a good standard, very modern. The outside areas were very nice with lots of places to sit. Our teenager who used the pool said it wasn’t that warm. The pool floor didn’t look that clean. Good choice on bar. The bedrooms at this hotel let it down. It’s like stepping back into the 80’s. Our room had peeling wallpaper and the other room had 4 picture hooks with nothing on them. Too much clutter on walls in stairwell. I appreciate its being done up but for £110 per night per room (no breakfast) I expected better rooms. Saying that clean bedding, clean towels and comfy bed. Bathroom was also very dated and shower head was very small. The website wasn’t up and running before our visit but rooms do have toiletries, tv, tea and coffee facilities and hairdryer. Good location for old town and beach too. Good luck to the new owners as this could be a little gem of a stay when the rooms are done to match the downstairs.
