Very good hotel, nicely situated. It is not far from the old town or the beach. the bed was very comfortable. We were on the 3rd floor overlooking the carpark with a view of the sea. Hotel is very quiet, and we did not hear any doors banging in the morning. The breakfast is copious. I appreciated the fresh fruits. From the restaurant you have great views of the sea Salma the owner is very pleasant and always ready to help make your stay enjoyable.

I have just spent a lovely 5 nights at the VILLA MENTONE HOTEL THE SERVICE WAS FIRST CLASS The views from the garden are breathtaken cannot ask for anything more and SALMA THE OWNER nothing was too much trouble for her I have booked again for this month of MAY

This hotel was awful :( the person who met us to give us key cards to our rooms was drunk, the rooms smelt of cigarettes, and damp. We didn’t stay as we had a bay and there was no way I was letting my baby stay there we had to pay extra for somewhere else and the hotel won’t even give a refund,the photos are not how the rooms are at all

I am giving this hotel 1 star for the following reasons. Never stay in Room 5. It is the most miserable “room” (cupboard more like) that I have stayed in since my Youth Hosteling days. You can see from the photographs how small it was; the window was frosted glass; couldn’t reach to open the transom part of the window; toilet paper was in a large dispenser which stuck out of the wall like something in a public lavatory to stop you stealing the paper which meant you had to approach the toilet sideways and do a 90 degree turn to get around it; the TV was on the ceiling as there was nowhere else for it. Apparently I could have upgraded for a further £70 but - and this is key - the room should be fit for purpose in the first place. They should not have the temerity to offer anything so inadequate. We arrived at the 3 pm check-in time and were told that dinner could only be obtained by ordering at 8.30 in the morning. Nowhere on the website does it say this. It was a Monday and I spent nearly an hour on line trying to find a restaurant nearby that was open. As my mobility is not good, had to get the car out again to go out to eat which was not what I wanted to do after driving all day and had been looking forward to a glass or two of wine with my meal. On the second night we bought food from the supermarket as you are allowed to bring in your own food to eat in their dining room. I had to show the man on duty how to open a bottle of wine with a corkscrew as he had no idea. (He was training.) Breakfast was a very sorry affair. Cheap bread, cheap marmalade and cheap cornflakes. On the second morning I asked for fresh cornflakes as the ones in the dispenser were stale. She did bring them but said she would leave the ones in the dispenser as to throw them away would be a waste. The mind boggles! As a vegetarian I can always have eggs for breakfast but the tray of pre-cooked fried eggs were very strange and I didn’t have them on the second morning. I was very glad to leave.

When booking, I found Selma very helpful and accommodating and also arranged my ferry tickets at a discount. Prior to arriving I needed to amend the ferry time which she did with no hesitation or additional cost. I arrived on the Monday and the original room allocated to me was not suitable due to my disabilities. They arranged for me to have the family room which had 2 double beds and a wet room, which I accepted but had to pay extra. The room was lovely and had plenty of tea/coffee/bottles of water in the room. There was a standard radiator in the room and heated up the room nicely, but the heating was switched off at around 11pm. Fortunately my room had a separate electric wall heater, so was able to keep warm. The wet room did have a couple of flaws. The toilet was positioned under a sloping roof and I banged my head a couple of times but soon learned to duck when standing up. The toilet flush handle was broken but I still managed to flush with a bit of tinkering. The door going into the wet room was a sliding door with no lock. The shower in the room was right by the door and shower curtain provided was to use across the sliding door only. The hot water took some time to come through and eventually had a shower. The floor was very wet and slippery and used the small mat provided. The flaw with the design if the wet room is you have to go through the shower area with the wet floor to get to the toilet, not safe. Further issue was there is no emergency pull cord in the wet room. The full English breakfast layed on in the morning was lovely, the staff were very accommodating in providing decaff coffee and the next morning I had an early start and would have missed the 8.30am start for breakfast and once I mentioned it, they arranged to put cereals and toast etc out for me, to make sure I was still able to have food before leaving, which was good service. The views from the hotel were amazing, had free parking, I was able to bring in my own drinks and snacks to have in the conservatory area. You have to book your evening meal in the morning which I did and was delicious. The staff were friendly. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Having read other reviews, it seems that the larger rooms are fine but my friend and I booked two single rooms, which were not wonderful. Mine (103) was very small but adequate and clean but hers (5) was ridiculously tiny and had no view outside as the window had frosted glass. Very claustrophobic. The other disappointing thing was that if you wanted to have dinner in the restaurant you had to book in the morning and the prices were very high. We arrived mid-afternoon so could not eat there that evening anyway. We were on the Isle of Wight on a Monday and Tuesday in April and a lot of the restaurants were closed. One good thing - we were allowed to bring our own food in to the hotel so we did that one evening and ate it in the conservatory part of the dining room and bought drinks from the bar and watched the sun go down over the beautiful view, which was very nice. The breakfast at the hotel was OK but everything was done on the cheap. The coffee was very good, though. There was a strange smell on the stairs. Sometimes Selma was friendly and sometimes she was rather negative, like when my friend pointed out that the cornflakes were stale. Two good things about this hotel - parking and the glorious view. I hope I have written a fair review but I would not recommend this hotel to my friends.

Perfect central location . We booked the sea view room . The view is stunning . The room is very small but it’s ok for the 4 days we stayed It’s clean with a shower over the bath . We really enjoyed our stay here and Selma and staff are all really nice . The breakfast is help your self and plenty to choose from . Really enjoyed my morning cuppa with the view . See photo .

As a family of four with a daughter in a wheelchair, it’s super hard to find big enough family rooms or indeed one room for four adults and one child (daughter 18) in short notice. We stayed in the Empire State room and it had plenty of space for us. The bath was a treat and the balcony with sea views was lovely! There is definitely a theme to the hotel which I found quite cute. I always filter 4* and above but my husband found this hotel and convinced me to give it a try especially as we were finding it difficult to get a booking for one room rather than two. I’m happy that he did. The host is lovely and very accommodating. The staff are friendly. There are reasons why this is a 3* but I was surprised at how lovely the bathroom was, how comfortable the beds were and a decent size tv etc. Overall very happy with our stay.

We only stopped for a drink on their terrace but the views, space and drinks options were amazing. I was with my son and we had the most wonderful time being in that stunning corner before visiting other spots. I’d love to come back next summer and stay in one of the sea view balcony rooms. The wonderful girl working there advised on her favourite rooms and I have to say, she is a credit to the establishment; Handling bar, reception and other enquiries calmly, warmly and professionally - even when busy. Look forward to staying here in the summer next year, hopefully. Look at how wonderful it is
