This hotel is ideally located just steps from nice cafes and the main downtown district while somehow being separate from any bustle. St. John’s is a very hilly city and this Sheraton is on top of a rise, so heading into the action is a downhill stroll. The rooms are comfortable, though many hotels in Newfoundland only offer rooms with two double beds instead of two queens, including this one, which was the main disappointment. The hotel lives up to Marriott standards, with attentive housekeeping and a great restaurant. Newfie hospitality was on full display, with the staff all being friendly and helpful, especially Ashley at the front desk and Jacquina (not sure if I spelled that right) at the restaurant. This is a good hotel to choose for your stay in St. John’s.
Very loud and uncomfortable room blankets were scratchy and pillows deflate as soon as you lay down. Wifi requires a Hilton account and then payment otherwise bandwidth is capped and only useful for sending emails. When checking out the agent said no preauthorization was found, I was charged when I checked in, so I was charged twice and no one knows where the money is. Credit card company says it’s on hold with Hilton and Hilton says there’s no such charge/hold. So I’m out money until someone figures out where it went.
Stayed a few nights in July as part of vacation to St Johns. Pluses Close to airport and easy access Free parking onsite Room was overall clean. Comfortable bed and pillows. Our room was ok overall. AC if anything was too cold and no issues. Quiet - there was a wedding reception the one night and didnt hear anything Nothing nearby to walk to. But not a long drive or cab ride to get downtown. For ballpark a cab to Quidi Vidi was only $15 one way. Multiple cabs waiting on site for fares if need a cab Cons Entrance has smoking on either side and multiple garbage pails between the sets of sliding doors. Pails always overflowing, cigarette butts overflowing and required walking through smoke in and out every time. Not a great first impression. Shower had lots of long hairs in it when arrived stuck to wall and soap bottles - cleaned up before spouse saw them. Out of body wash and had to ask for more. Coffee machine in room. Coffee replacement varied each day sometimes short on pods and other times short on creamer. Little thing but strange. There is a great coffee/chocolate place on a few blocks away that is worth the trip for morning java Balcony was grey dirty concrete with nothing to sit on. We went out to see it and didnt go out again. Good powerwash and couple of half decent patio chairs could make a difference. On site East Side Marios restaurant - closes at 10 and appears designed for meals only. Nowhere else nearby for late dinner and drinks just made last call on arrival for bite to eat. Kudos to staff for serving us with only 20 mins left in their day. Overall - it was an older Holiday Inn, fairlystandard/ basic overall but we just needed a place to sleep for few nights and was ok. Stayed downtown for other half of our trip and cost double per night
Amazing hospitality and service! The staff were friendly and mindful. The suites were clean and spacious! Breakfast was delicious and always stocked! Close to the airport and restaurants! Big thanks to Trent for ensuring my room was always so clean and comfortable.
We overnighted here after flying into St John's and picking up our rental car at the airport. The hotel is right across the street from the airport. We had a NS, King with fridge, microwave, coffee maker. There was a sofa bed and coffee table as well as desk and chair. Also chair and ottoman, very large room. everything was well kept and clean. Bathroom had walk in shower and was very clean. A couple of dining choices within walking distance. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Rate was decent for location. Glad we stayed here and would stay again.
