I was really impressed with the hotel allowing me to access my room immediately on arrival. I had spoken to them and explained that I would be flying all night, likely with no sleep and they were more than happy to accommodate that by allowing me immediate access to my room. However no sooner had I climbed into bed (around 10.30am) renovations were taking place in the unit above which included some sort of hydraulic hammering or drilling. The sound was horrendous. I contacted reception who stated they had no control over the noise. I asked to move rooms, however none that were vacant had been cleaned. I asked for sheets so that I could just use a bed elsewhere but was told that wasn't possible. They advised that the noise should only last another 30 mins which it did. I guess the disappointing thing was that they were aware that I was flying all night and in desperate need of sleep and put me in a room that was below a unit they knew was being renovated. But to be honest, I was really happy with everything else. The above is my only complaint, which to be honest was a very out of the ordinary situation. Had there been no renovations taking place I'd have given it a 5-star rating straight up. And yes i would definitely stay there again. The light rail is right outside the hotel entrance, so convenient, it took me everywhere i needed to go which was great as I didn't rent a car as my conference was right in the heart of Surfers. Just down the road toward Surfers (a couple of mins walk) are a heap of restaurants. I love anything Asian. There were multiple Thai, Chinese and Indian to choose from. I tried to get something from each of them and none of them disappointed. I didn't get to the beach but it's only a block away. The walk would be less than 5 mins. For the location and price, I doubt you would do much better for an entire unit!!!
I will admit that I selected this hotel on price and location. Check in is a little difficult as you fave to arrive at a set time period or pre arrange before you get there. Called the front desk and was checked in without too much bother. Car park is underneath but you need the code to access, which you get on check in, so need to park somewhere in the meantime. Room was clean, equipped with everything I needed. There was also a kitchenette arrangement. It was at the rear and was relatively quiet. However, the place has a feeling of a half way house, or low income rentals. It seemed to me there were long-term residents. The hotel offers little, no food, nothing in fridge, no restaurant, no meals. There is a pool tho. For a cheap one night stay it was ok. Would I stay longer, I don't think so.
Awesome place to stay with a range of fantastic facilities and the desk is open good hours to help meet your needs . This has 2 big indoor spas , outdoor swimming pool , beach access at back door and kids pool . I recommend this to anyone.
Great stay! Perfect for kids and adults alike with the choice of both the pool and ocean. Just wish I had booked the sea view. I couldn’t fault the service especially when addressing an issue with our parking.
I stayed a week in apartment 32 on level 10, overlooking the beach with an uninterrupted view of the ocean. To say the outlook is spectacular seems like an understatement, and if you like the sound of the surf this is defiantly the place for you. The location is excellent. A short, flat walk to shops, restaurants, cafés, and bars. Less than a 10 min walk to supermarkets, shopping precincts and night clubs. It is only a 5-minute walk to the Surfers Paradise night markets held every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and polite. I had a small issue with the receipt and found the front desk staff approachable, the issue was resolved on the spot. The list below is lengthy, and it may seem that I’m running the place down, but I’m a details person. I would happily stay again, details provided may help you prepare for your stay. The bed was comfortable though a little on the firm side for my liking. Overall, I found the room was very clean, but was disappointed to find the previous guest had left an obviously unwashed bowl in the cupboard. The kitchen is very small and lacks counterspace, I used the dining table for meal prep. No dishwasher but washing up liquid and a tea towel is provided. Supplied amenities were minimal, while there were a few satchels of tea and coffee no milk was provided. The soap and shampoo supplied were single use. The lounge and dining room are serviced by a split system air conditioner that is very quiet and cools efficiently. There is no air conditioner in the bedroom. Water pressure isn’t great but sufficient. I was pleasantly surprised to find a full range of Foxtel channels not just a few select sports and news as so often the case. The Apartments are overdue for renovations and there are a few maintenance and housekeeping issues. In my room there were some broken tiles, the sliding door for the laundry would only close halfway and one of the towels provided was so threadbare it had a hole in it. A fresh coat of paint here and there would certainly brighten the place up. Although I understand the need to book the BBQ’s and Tennis court, I thought that a $50 deposit to ensure it was left clean was a tad excessive. I can only assume that they have had issues in the past. Car parking needs to be booked and confirmed ahead of time. I have a mid-sized sedan and found the spaces a bit tight, guests with large 4 x 4s might find it a bit of a challenge. Previous reviewers have mentioned the street noise. Given that the building is right on the Esplanade some occasional noise should be expected. I stayed from a Monday to Monday, I only noticed an increase in road noise on the weekend evenings which is understandable. If you can overlook the small things, The Olympus Apartments are great value for money and defiantly deserves to be on your short list.
I don’t normally leave bad reviews but people need to be warned! Please spend your money elsewhere these people are the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with The room was so incredibly dirty/dusty/mouldy A/C Window in bedroom completely cracked and wind whistling through the un-sealed window in another bedroom Sockets hanging off the wall and very poorly equipped eg. Cooking equipment / bedding supplies In addition to this when we reported our concerns with the room we were met with a disgraceful passive aggressive attitude from the staff who told us we would either have to wait till the next day or cancel and leave Which is exactly what we did. Avoid at all costs. Had to record and photograph everything as evidence as such un-trustworthy dodgy people. Please pay a little extra and go elsewhere, save yourself the hassle
The WORST hostel I've ever stayed in. If you read positive comments they must be fake 100%! I spoke with other people during my road trip up to the east coast and everyone told me the same: this hostel is a nightmare, dirty, full of cockroaches and people that enter and go whenever they want in the room even if they are not from that room. The hostel itself is disgustingly dirty. Flies and pigeons in the kitchen, the entire room was dirty including cockroaches, sand, hairs and you can tell that people live there because every single space of the room is taken by their bags scattered around/clothes etc. Bed sheets were disgustingly dirty/full of sand, bathrooms don't look like they've ever been cleaned. I chose a 10 female dorm and at some point a girl that was surely living there brought one of the guy of the hostel in the room and they started to have s** with no problems and without caring of the other people in there and PLUS in the morning I went to the toilet (inside the room) and the guy opened the door… luckily I was already dressed, but this shouldn’t happen. And then he just ran away and went to hide in the in the girl bed as if I didn’t see him… Would definitely NOT recommend to stay there.
