I went to look for the statue of St. Jacob in the cathedral, which should be on a pillar at the main entrance. Unfortunately, the famous statue was wrapped up for repairs and could not be seen. It was a little pity. If it were open, it would have been right to see him as soon as he entered the door, and then, like pilgrims of all ages, to insert his fingers into the holes in the pillars that had been touched by PILGRIMS'hands. There are too many allusions in Santiago Cathedral. Although I have seen countless exquisite cathedrals in Europe, I am still impressed by the exquisite carvings and ancient charm everywhere in Santiago Cathedral. Europe, especially in the Middle Ages, did devote all its energy and wealth to the construction of churches. It took more effort than to build palaces. What remained over the centuries was indeed art palaces and treasure houses, and it was the splendid spiritual and material heritage of mankind as a whole. This place deserves to be appreciated by those who like European architectural art, because it is a museum of European art history.
